The perceptions regarding Boone County High School by the general public are not always accurate. It has been a great school for all of my kids.

My question was not disparaging of Boone it was coming from being on the site base committee about 3 years ago where the rankings were different. Great to see Boone improving as all the schools provide a good education as I know students from all 4.

I was previously on the site based committee and the rankings were different about 3 years ago which is why I asked when did it change. All 4 schools provide a quality education and for the record all 4 schools received the "Distinguished" rating in 2015.

Understood Mr. Sixer. I did not take your post as being disparaging towards Boone. I was making a comment about the perception of Boone that is held by many in the general public.

 

I am just trying to do what Mr Schlotman, Boone's Principal urges us to do: "Tell people the good stories about Boone County High School."

 

I agree, the other schools in the county are fantastic as well. Many of my kids' friends went from the same Middle School to Ryle and Cooper.

 

And let me say lastly, I am sorry if things are happening at Holy Cross. I don't want to disparage that school or take athletes away from them. As I indicated in a thread a while ago, I encourage athletes and parents to stay and fight through the tough times at a school or a sport and not run from it. That's what we are doing at Boone in athletics. I wish Holy Cross well in all this.

And you are correct about all the schools doing a good job but Boone tends to get put down a tad too much, in my opinion in the Community, for being the inner city school.

I know of one Junior to be who has already left and enrolled back at Highlands but I am hearing today that another Junior and likely best player returning will be enrolling at another school. Any truth to this?

I work with his dad, they bought a house in the Cooper school district, no Private to Public loophole.

Sounds like no wrong doing at all unlike a few on here who tried to make it sound like there was.

I also heard Michael Spencer left Cov Cath and is playing at Cooper now. Not sure what happened with that one. He is a new enroll'ee at Cooper this year. They should've moved him back to his correct year if he switched schools again. He's only 15 and a JR. I believe the parents had him skip a grade when he was younger.

So he can play as a Jr if he stayed at Cov Cath but he shouldn't if he plays for Cooper? That makes zero sense at all

Not what I'm saying at all. I'm just suggesting if your going to move your son because of sports(my guess) then move him to the correct grade as well. That would help him even more. He's a great kid with a great family. Would like to see him succeed even more.

YOU can't switch grades after one has enrolled in HS.
