2 from Highlands and 1 one from Holmes.

I would put them ahead of Pulaski as well, I expect Pulaski County to be down a bit this year. I think Owensboro will be really solid and would place them ahead of South Oldham and Southwestern. Honestly of those teams mentioned Owensboro is the only one I would have in my top 5. The head scratcher for me is whether South Oldham should be in front of Southwestern or not, I think they will be pretty much equal unless South Oldham doesn't skip a beat with the oline replacement.

 

Can you show me what Southwestern returns? Tried to find that on BGP and did not see anything. Did read the Owensboro thread and there are some big questions. But they are Owensboro and do have athletes step up. Have to see how things shake out after the first few weeks but will keep the Dragons in the top 5 for now.

A little baffled that Fern Creek not in anyone's top 5 for 5A, lost in semifinals to Bowling Green last 2 years, you'd think two straight final fours would get you top 5.

Fern Creek does have to replace the entire offensive backfield but have 28 seniors, and 10 returning starters on defense (5 on offense)

They return over 2500 yards of offense from Patric Edwards (RB) and JP Vaught (WR) alone. All in all they return 15 of their 22 starters from last season. They have been progressively getting better in recent years, I can't see them dropping off this season given what they return.

Fern Creek could certainly be in there, the only question mark at the moment is replacing so much of the production on offense. If that goes smoothly, then I would expect Fern Creek to be one of the top tier teams in 5A.

Thanks. Was wondering about Edwards as he should have another great season. Vaught also had a great season but am wondering about the QB. Can they get Vaught the ball. Agree Southwestern will be a tough out for anyone.

Can you give us a little bit more about what they do have returning and what the replacements look like. I agree they have a lot of momentum going forward off these last two years. Their defense will either win some games for them or at least keep them in the game. Just was also going off what I heard about what they lost offensively.

Never count NewCath out of the top five in 2A. They seem to find a way.

Personally I didn't see a thimbleful of difference between NewCath and Danville last year...so unless Newcath just lost a ton of talent, (and they might have I don't know) then I would say they would be right there with Danville.

Glad to hear it. I wouldn't call it a Twitter hoax when reported by the beat writer for the KNE, but glad it ultimately turned out not to be true. This is the year Hoptown ascends back to the title game IMO.
