Triples is one of those stats that you would assume to be higher. Heck, how many high schools played w/o an outfield fence? Several before the 1980's I would assume.

I would have thought as well. I played on several fields, without a fence....even had one, that had a trailer park in left and no fence....didn't help much with a triple, when you can time my speed with a sun dial.

Hey, I just report them as per the KHSAA records. You would be correct, in that Trinity should be included for the team record.

LSU is tops in 2006 college baseball attrendance with 263,534 with an average of 7320 in 36 home games. The rest of the top 5:

3. Miss St. (193,703)

4. Texas (161,392)

5. Nebraska (122,216)

 

In all, the SEC had 5 in the top ten, (6. Mississippi and 8. Alalbama). Kentucky came in at 35th with an attendance of 57,707 and and average of 1649 per home game (35).

Going into his senior season, Justin Blanton of Johnson Central has been hit 31 times. He was hit 13 times last season. Another season with similar numbers and he will have the dubious (or unlucky) honor of tying that particular record.

Great idea and great thread but In all fairness I do not think the records on the KHSAA web-site are up to date in all categories.

It is my understanding that the all time stolen base record of 139 was broken by Thomas Tolliver of Raceland in the 2006 season. I am not sure of his exact numbers but it is in the 140's range.

Agreed and I'm certain, several others would be in many categories but never submitted to the KHSAA.

 

Some of these season and career totals, are very impressive. Just shows how good high school baseball in Kentucky, really is.

I just noticed this thread and I am glad that I did, some interesting stuff. I would like to give one BGP member some recognition though. Cvillecat hit for a .575 batting average :eek: his senior year (1974) at Raceland. I believe that .560 was listed as the highest. I like some other posters wish that better records would had been kept during that time and before, if so his(cvillecat) name would be at the top or very near it.

Agreed and therein, lies the problem that some coaches and perhaps most, don't submit records to the KHSAA or even know the process.

Why is it that two (2) teams (Cumberland and Evarts) from the same region (Region 13) and same district (District 52) were not eligible for post season play last year. Has that sanction been lifted for 2007. There has to be a story there?
