KHSAA Baseball State Records

Imagine before consolidation if you were a large city school playing tiny teams from around the state. There are probably individuals out there that threw ten no-no's themselves, but the books are long gone.

Agreed and I no of several verifiable records, that aren't included for players and schools.

Some coaches and schools, perhaps don't know and maybe this is one option, to help make them aware to submit KHSAA records in all sports, not just Baseball.

Let's say, for instance, Joe Blow from Somerset High School played baseball in the 1960's, and played Eubank, Shopville, Nancy, and Ferguson High Schools (which were all high schools in Pulaski County before consolidation). Basically, Somerset was head and shoulders better than these teams.

Would the 8 no hitters thrown by Joe Blow against these teams deserve to be listed ahead of guys that have beaten legitimate, quality teams?

Yes, my understanding is that provided a KY High School team, participated against another member school or certified high school, regardless of ability....records would count.

A no-hitter, is a no-hitter regardless of opponent ability from a records standpoint.

Russell High School or Russell County?

Russell High in Greenup County.

CCH won 40 games in 2002. Is that a state record?(too lazy to look it up)

CCH broke the record in 2002, only to have Dunbar break it by 1 the following season...

Actually CCH tied the 40 win mark of Madison Central (early 80's) and Harrison County (1997)...although it has them at 39-3 on the KHSAA website.

I think Joey Beldon (Danville) may have passed this actually.

Most Hits One Game Combined by 2 Teams - (25 min)

1st 33 · Fairview- 20 & East Carter - 13 ('05)

2nd 31 · Powell Co. - 21 & Lee Co. - 10 ('78)

3rd 30 · Fleming Co. - 15 & Bishop Brossart - 15 ('03)

Those are some interesting stats. It's funny though, I don't think they are complete. Some oif the season numbers I see don't include anything from Paintsville for the 2000 season. I only bring it up because I know that many of the individual and team statistics would qualify for a bunch of those lists. I'm gonna get somebody on that.

Hardball, thanks for reminding me....

Most Triples Career - (9 min)

1st 21 · Brad Wilkerson - Apollo ('91-'95)

2nd 16 · Brock Wright - Heath (''02-'05)

3rd 14 · Brandon Braboy - Heath ('01-'04)

Triples is one of those stats that you would assume to be higher. Heck, how many high schools played w/o an outfield fence? Several before the 1980's I would assume.
