What Was Your Favorite Kids' Book as a Child?

Hatchet and Brians Winter were my two favorite I think.

I probably read this one twenty times over my childhood years, literally. A young boy stranded on a tropical island and learning to survive. Eventually inspired me later in life to take an actual survival trip with some of my good college buddies down in the Everglades.

I want to do that trip so bad.

A series of Unfortunate Events and Harry Potter series.

Later on when I started reading, this was probably my favorite...

Attachment didn't open. What was your favorite @Jumper_Dad ?

Upside Down Town by Frank Emerson Andrews

My intrigue with it was probably a good early indication that I'd become one who'd often question norms.

I read a lot of MAD magazine. Does that count?! :lol2:

Maybe not, but you kept interesting company.

I really enjoyed the Hardy Boys books.

There was a series of books about a youth detective called Encyclopedia Brown that I liked.

There was a book I remember called Follow my Leader. It was about a 12 year old who was blinded by a prank gone wrong. It dealt with his building a relationship with his seeing eye dog. I literally read that one over and over until it fell apart.

I was a voracious reader as a youth and was very excited when I was 12 and my parents said I could read an "adult" book. It was The Exorcist. My mother was also a big reader and I read lots of her hand me downs. She liked mysteries and Ellery Queen was a favorite.

Call of the Wild!

Call of the Wild and White Fang were 2 more of my favorites.

I'll just list some more...I've been an avid reader since...well...5 or so.

My earliest favorite was Clifford The Big Red Dog

Much later

Pipi Longstocking

The Yearling

Sooner

Where The Red Fern Grows

Summer of My German Soldier

All the Judy Blume's

Algonquin

Heidi

The Secret Garden

The Wind in the Willows
