I'm sure there's a good number of those deaths that DO overlap, but there is nothing show in those maps that indicates that the overdose deaths involving fentanyl also involve heroin.

 

There are people who abuse fentanyl all on its own, just like there are folks who involve other opioid pills on their own.

Why can't they FORCE everyone that has to receive a shot to revive them spend time in a rehab center? If they get a shot and are revived, load them up and take them directly to a rehab center...just like a jail lock up for DUI. I would think if we are using public money to save them then we should be able to dictate this.

I know there is a monthly injectable called Vivitrol that I supposed to block the heroin high for a month at a time. Must be super expensive because I don't know anyone who has taken it.

Because rehab isn't going to work unless the addict wants it too. Waste of money if the addict doesn't want it.

 

FWIW, most of the addicts I see ask the judge for rehab do so just to get out of jail.

Heard a lady tell Officers she was snorting fentanyl because a friend told her it wouldn't show up in a drug screen, this was after she was arrested for DUI. Have also seen people OD on pure fentanyl that they thought was heroin. There are a lot of factors as to why people OD, the one constant is that they're choosing to use a dangerous drug.

An article from the Daily Independent last week said that Boyd County had the third most overdoses of any county in the state, Jefferson and Fayette County had the most. It only had 30 deaths though, so I imagine there is a pretty good survival rate here.

A few departments started carrying it a couple years ago in NKY, however those officers/deputies were typically EMT certified. Now some departments are talking about(some already have) getting it simply for departmental use in the event of an accidental exposure incident.

Actually saw a post on FB just yesterday from someone I know that said that they were using that. I'm not sure I'd announce the type of thing but she often has posts about trying to fight against her addiction. Only person that I know of.
