Exactly. He's quite frankly one of the biggest, and most important figures in the history of golf. He's going to be talked about for a long, long time. And it's not just Tiger that gets talked about. Jack's name gets mentioned almost every time they mention Tiger. You can't watch a major without hearing about Arnie. Not sure why it's only a problem when Tiger gets mentioned.

Tiger was still the best in the world for 7 years after his dad died. He was player of the year and leading money winner 3x in the span. I agree his dad was a major influence in his life, and his death may have affected him, but I really don't think his dad dying was his undoing. To me it's really simple. Injuries and age. Woods was always a workout fiend and was a real athlete. He was a physical specimen and this is what separates him from other golfers. The Knee and back injuries changed all that. Plus other players started following his script, so the one advantage Tiger had was gone. Suddenly he was just another dude out there and he's never been able to overcome the injuries or adapt his style and game to his new physical limitations. I thinks it's these struggles that have played the biggest role in his mental downfall, much more so than his dad dying.

 

4 back surgeries, a couple knee surgeries...it's no surprise Tigers game and mind are in shambles at this point. Pain is a tough thing for many people to deal with, especially when it robs you of your livelihood like it's done to Tiger.

 

I am totally with you on this. Tiger brought a new athleticism to pro golf. Other guys on tour started lifting and conditioning if one remembers. He was powerful, fit, charismatic, and he wooed many viewers. But I can almost exactly relate...I was a fair-enough golfer in my youth, but then, major knee surgery (and pain), then bulging disks (and pain), rotator cuff issues (and pain). Golf is not as much fun when it hurts, and when it hurts, it is hard to perform at a high level. When one has performed at a high level, and can't do it anymore, it is difficult to adjust, and some don't. Tiger had a very athletic and almost violent swing. I said to one of the minidoomers several years ago that Tiger was going to have to learn to accept a different, smoother swing if he was going to play consistently with knee and back issues. My guess is he hasn't, and maybe can't. At least he's rich already.

Yep. Tiger was player of the year in 2013, 7 years after his dad died. Had his first back surgery in March of 2014. He's only played in 17 events since that first back surgery. The dude can't play anymore because he is hurting, which is likely the cause of this most recent incident since it was just reported he blew a 0.00. Pain is an awful thing to have to deal with. But folks are still going to blast him.

Police have discretion. Do they get their jollies out of arresting famous people? Otherwise, why not let him call a cab or an uber if he is not driving? Just seems like we are wasting taxpayers money.

No more than being famous should get him arrested. He apparently was near home, blew 0.0, and sleeping in his car. I would hope an officer of the law would find it better for the community to get the person (whomever it was) home safely - providing the person was not a habitual offender - which they can check.

I'm not a fan of anyone who drinks or does drugs and drives. I have no sympathy for Tiger in this situation.

I didn't have all the facts....if he was or had been driving, the car was running, and he was in the road, then I am with @lawildcat, book him Dan-o. I have no sympathy for anyone who drives under the influence.

I miss Tiger.

I know most will probably disagree with me on here, but IMO the biggest mistake Tiger ever made was getting married. Dude should've just lived up the single life.
