Highlands' schedule for next year (2007)

Featured Replies

The schedule looks like this in this order at this moment:

Ryle, Conner, Holmes, Dixie, Covington Catholic, Bye, Scott, Lexington Catholic, possibly Ryle again, Madison Central, Bye. There will be no Cincinnati teams on the schedule. Highlands is also trying to schedule a game with Hopkinsville.

Why would they play Ryle twice??????

That's my understanding of the schedule also. But I've not heard that from anyone I can say is definitely in the know. I've been told we are having a tough time filling the schedule. There is some problem scheduling the Ohio schools due to some change pending with the Ohio format, although I don't understand the issue. Kudos to to the N. Ky big schools of Ryle and Conner for having us on their schedule to improve their program. Wish we could get Campbell County and Boone on the schedule also. Glad Madison Central re-uped. LexCath series will be fun also. Hopefully things can be worked out with Hoptown. Nice program from what I know of it.

Why don't the Birds schedule someone like Indian Hill or Turpin?????:D

Highlands will not be playing any teams from Cincinnati or Louisville next season. The first game of the season against Ryle will be played at Paul Brown Stadium. There are currently two open dates on the schedule because Coach Mueller can't find any other Kentucky teams willing to play. Ryle may play Highlands twice next season.

I wish the boys down on the hill would play us.... Even though I don't think it would be much of a game...

Don't sell Highlands short. I think the Birds could hang with NewCath for three quarters or so before the Breds would blow it wide open.

FYI a game between NewCath and Highlands would be closer than NewCath v. CovCath. One thing that NewCath has trouble with is the pass. They however, always defend the run well. With Highlands 1912 Canton Bulldogs/Leather Helmet offense, NewCath would have been able to keep the score decent. NewCath wouldn't win, and would lose by a couple scores, but it would be a game. Did you play for Highlands?

Then tell them to sac up and go back to scheduling the Birds. Its my understanding which could be wrong that the Breds pulled the plug on this series back in the mid 90's after a huge fracas following a game.

I think they should play simply because many of those kids grow up together playing in the ft. Thomas Jr football league and the rivalry would be outstanding.

I hope this changes sooner than later..

Just so you know, CovCath internet radio announcers consider Ft. Thomas to be in the middle of nowhere as well...

The incident was during Duffy's last year. It was during the game, not after it. They took a year break and then played again in the late 90's with the combined scores being like 1,340-24 in favor of the Birds. Those were some of Highlands best teams and some of NewCath's worst. I would really like to see them play again.

Really its in the center of nowhere.
Is that closer to Nowhereville?
