Well, I do loooove waffle fries and do think they are about the best side that isn't a side of wedges. What is a good side in your estimation, at a fast food chicken joint?

Mashed potatoes and cajun gravy or cajun rice or red beans and rice or jambalaya or baked beans or green beans or grits or mac and cheese to name a few.

I'll just say this:

I only like real mashed potatoes and those aren't available at any of the choices

I'm down for any of the others, but I do consider red beans and rice and jambalaya to be entrees.

As I mentioned, my favorite fast food chicken joint is not on the list. But that doesn't negate the deliciousness that is a Chick fil-a waffle fry. :lol2:. If I judged all chicken joints by dessert offerings, I'd think they all sucked, because only Chicken King served real, homemade banana pudding.

I guess I have to go with KFC. Because.... I have never eaten at the others except Chick-fil-A, and only got a sandwich there which was ok, but didn't love it.

 

I prefer greasy, crispy unhealthy fried chicken if I am going to splurge on this.

 

Definitely a Church's man, then. Nothing healthy about anything in that place.

I don't know whether there are any of these up there, but I like Pollo Tropical and YaYa's, too.

I enjoy Popeye's but sadly I don't eat there very often as there are none in Bardstown. We have a very good Lee's in Bardstown, though, and I recommend it as far as fast-food goes.

Popeyes mashed potatoes and cajun gravy are good! Bojangles has grits if I'm not mistaken. At Popeyes, red beans and rice and jambalaya are sides.

 

Chick fil-A waffle fries are much like the rest of their limited menu, average at best. I don't hate Chick fil-A, but it's extremely overrated.

No doubt they have an effective operation, but is it just me or do the employees of Chick-Fil-a appear to have sold their souls to some sort of cult to work there?

 

Sure no one wants the typical uncaring fast food attitude that we've sadly come to expect (which thankfully does appear to be changing), but I'm not too sure that their unrealistic approach isn't a bit overkill either. Aside from the glazed look in their eyes I'm expecting to one day walk in and find wires popping out of some of their necks.

 

The place weirds me out, and I promise that this has nothing to do with all the other crap that they've been in the news for.

Yea, I hate it when you approach the sales counter and somebody promptly actually tries to wait on you with a courteous attitude. Ruins my day.

I honestly don't know where you're getting this because I don't get the feeling you're describing at all at any of the various Chick-Fil-As I have visited. I find it DAMN REFRESHING that I am treated like an appreciated person for having stopped at Chick-Fil-A.

I'm all for being treated as an appreciated customer, which I alluded to in my initial post, so your response @Irish Cat insinuating that I was suggesting otherwise is misleading of what I was describing.

 

Not terribly unusual where posters reword others' posts to suggest that they had said something different, yet I'm not one to let it go uncontested.

 

If neither of you have ever felt the weirdness that I speak of, that's cool, but for me there's a difference between realness and being overly pretentious.

 

There's little doubt that their employees have been trained to approach customers as they do, which is completely understandable, and whereas my description of a glazed look, and expecting wires to pop out is an obvious over-exaggeration for comical sarcastic effect, I stand by what I was getting at where I feel their approach comes across as overly fake and unrealistic.

 

Certainly if I had a choice between uncaring employees versus Chick-fil-a's approach, I'm going for Chick-fil-a, but with that said it still weirds me out to feel as if I have walked into some fictitious Pleasantville that is obviously forced and fake.

 

For my money, Realville is all that is necessary.

I am surprised by the amount of raising canes votes. Their actual chicken is not good, the sauce and toast however are a different story.
