$1.9 billion a year to the NFL for Monday Night Football @ 20 games a year = 95M a game

$608 million for the College Football Playoff @ 3 games = 202.6M per game.

ESPN canned Marc Stein and Chad Ford, two of their top NBA guys.

ESPN is hiring Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo. He's by far the best in the business when it comes to NBA scoops IMO.

So is everyone that has been canned just being replaced by another talking head? Reason I ask is what you just mentioned about the hiring of Woj over Ford and turned on Russillo and Kanell last week and they had two different(and awful)replacements sitting in for them

And the entire Vertical staff apparently.

Other than Mike and Mike, I find pretty much all ESPN radio programming atrocious. I would rather listen Roseanne Barr sing the national anthem than Lebatard's show. Kanell and Russillo were OK IMO but now they are gone...

If they are going to honor the contracts why lay them off now. Just let them finish out the contracts and not renew them.

I feel like they had alternative plans...like trying to hire other guys. They essentially said they were laying people off but in reality they are hiring other people.

The only case I've seen for this is Woj and his site and why wouldn't ESPN want the best in the business ? Woj is the best insider of any sport in the country.

Did I miss the NFL replacement for Werder?

The more I hear about ESPN being liberal, the more I feel like someone is trying to suppress ideas and free speech.

Listen I don't think ESPN going liberal is it's main problem but to act like it has zero affect is to ignore reality. Also posting an opinion piece from Think Progress is like someone on the right posting a Breitbart article. I've stayed out of this debate.

But ESPN decline in revenue and profit are 3 things.

1. Decline in subscriptions

2. Bad contracts with professional leagues

3. An obvious slant in worldview and coverage

Now obviously 1 and 2 have the larger impact because cable fees are a larger part of revenue and contracts with leagues are the biggest expense. But to ignore a decline in ratings for opinion based programs which correlates with ad revenue is equal to putting ones head in the sand.

I've said it about every business, they should be neutral on most areas outside of it's main revenue stream. Once you take a stance you take a chance to anger potiential customers. It's business 101, and if your social or political stance is more important than profit more power to you. But in business dollars and shareholder opinion is all that matters.

I think those on the left who act like the opinion slant has no bearing are silly and those on the right who think it is the main cause are also silly.

You are being consistent on bad analogies and comparisons.

How has the market done since Trump released his tax plan? ;)
