Monday Morning Quarterback:rolleyes:

That would be true had I called for the punt AFTER the failed attempt.

BTW, hats off to the Dixie players. They must love football and love their school in order to put with that yahoo defensive coordinator they have. That guy is Mr. Negative. Nothing pleases him. There are times to be a butt-kicker and there are times to pump up your team. He's 100% negative.

In less than 1 minute, he chewed out Moloney for letting a punt roll(right move on Moloney's part) and then yelled up at his OWN timekeeper for not letting the last .2 run off the clock.

Isn't this the guy that caused at least one of their former coaches to leave?

Hats off to the boys for still playing despite him and his antics.

Say hello to coach Sorrell. He had that same attitude when coaching the varsity girls' basketball team years ago. I, too, don't like his antics, but the kids play for him. I've heard he's ran out more than one former coach (and those former coaches had NFL experience).

What were the details of Dixie's final drive of regulation? Also, who had the touchdowns for each team in the OT?

It was probably a 2 or 3 play drive. The quick slant on the first play set up the long TD. They run a fake slant, the DB bit, the receiver was wide open for the TD.

So you'd go for it from your own 20 on 4th and 5 any time during the game?

They were not on their own twenty. Try midfield. And don't put words in his mouth. A fourth down try at the end of the game has no correlation to a try in the beginning/middle of the game. They were trying to seal the deal.

If you called it immediately before or two weeks later it doesn't matter. It was a good call to go for it. You are wrong.:fight:

Hey, you're the one who said the coach shows that he believes in his team, right? So, if he "believes in his team," he goes for it no matter what, right?

BTW, he did "seal the deal."

Let me say that I know about 10% of what Coach Marksberry knows so I'm not claiming to be smarter. This was a poor decision that IMO cost them the game.

Let me reiterate the above. The guy can coach. His team is talented. I really think they're one of the top 2 teams in NKY 4A.

He simply made a poor decision that cost his team today and may cost them in their seeding.

Unless some odd things occur it most likely caused a drop in seed, that's a given but I think I would have done the same in the same situation. The wind was heavily blowing against SK. His two previous punts in the same direction were very short and SK was very successful running for positive yardage at the time. Sure he could have sent in the punt unit but Dixie was going to go deep eventually and that play would have scored from 99, the fact of the matter is SK still could have won the game in OT #2 by scoring six but Dixie made due on defense. SK has a huge game against Holmes, hopefully coach M's boys know it's due or die time, they have to win the next game and go from there.

I really dislike Dixie

 Not the kind of sportsmanship this website is about. :irked:

What a great all out effort by both teams considering the circumstances. Coach M did what he felt was right, showing confidence in his offense, and more importantly, he let his players know that he had that confidence in them! It just didn't turn out the way he figured. Both teams are to be commended for an outstanding high school GAME! I knew the Dixie kids would console Tommy Gibson. They understand why he had to leave them. He is a great kid with a big future in front of him as a Pioneer.

You're not making any sense. Although i didn't say if he "believes in his team" i agree with it and it is a very correct statement. But anywho are you saying that a fourth and 1 in the first or second quarter has the same bearing as one that will decide the game? I hope not. Any educated football fan knows the monumentous difference between the two situations. If its the first quarter and you go for it on fourth and 1 from midfield then its really no big deal. There's plenty of time left in the game to make up for it. But if you go for a fourth and 1 in the fourth quarter a coach realizes that this play will pretty much decide the game. He showed me a whole bunch of trust by making that move. If they make it then the offense did its job. If not then he beleived the defense would do their job. Unfortunately they did not get that yard and the defense faultered so people get on bluegrass preps saying how stupid of a call it was. If you really knew the situation, the players, the coach, or the game of football for that matter, you would understand the decision. Unfortunatley you do not and i'm sorry for you.

I'm not gonna lie about things just to please people on here. I HATE DIXIE! There it is. I'm not gonna take it back, but I do not let it effect my discussions on here. I'm not gonna bash Dixie or its players anytime soon. I have tons of respect for them, but yeah i don't like them. Sorry if you have a problem with that.:thumb:
