Dixie 37 Simon Kenton 34 3 OTs

Unless some odd things occur it most likely caused a drop in seed, that's a given but I think I would have done the same in the same situation. The wind was heavily blowing against SK. His two previous punts in the same direction were very short and SK was very successful running for positive yardage at the time. Sure he could have sent in the punt unit but Dixie was going to go deep eventually and that play would have scored from 99, the fact of the matter is SK still could have won the game in OT #2 by scoring six but Dixie made due on defense. SK has a huge game against Holmes, hopefully coach M's boys know it's due or die time, they have to win the next game and go from there.

I agree SK is in a huge hole, but to get a positive out of this past game the clutch 3 pointers were a very good sight. A touchdown would have been tremendous to say the least, but the kicking game is getting better. If i'm not mistaken Bryan King had his first touchback as well. Woo Hoo!

:thumb: As someone said you will either be a hero or a zero in that situation...

You know it's a good thread when multiple people are paraphrasing Vanilla Ice. What a wise man, indeed.

I'm with cshs81 on this one. While it is a hero or zero call, why risk being a zero when you don't have to be a hero? Stopping SK on 4th down was a huge emotional lift for Dixie, something Dixie very much needed and wouldn't have gotten if SK punts the ball.

Also, didn't SK make some poor decisions in the closing minutes of last years game with Dixie? I'm trying to remember the details but it seems to me that SK made some poor decisions that didn't run as much time off the clock as they could have and Dixie scored the winning TD with only 9 seconds left in the game.

IMHO, Dixie doesn't win either game if SK makes different decisions down the stretch.

Wow! Big win for Dixie. Two weeks ago they were 0-3 and many seemed to doubt them. Now they are 2-0 in the conference where it matters most. On the other hand, SK was 3-0 and seemed to be rolling. Now they are 0-2 and sinking fast...

Unfortunately they did not get that yard and the defense faultered so people get on bluegrass preps saying how stupid of a call it was. If you really knew the situation, the players, the coach, or the game of football for that matter, you would understand the decision. Unfortunatley you do not and i'm sorry for you.

Its sad when people have to resort to this type of dialogue when they have no better response. So much for healthy discussion....

And that's "healthy discussion?"

Yes. Even in hindsight, its true.

And that's "healthy discussion?"

I'm not sure what your problem is with us. Your the first person I know who "HATES" us. More than a few have a healthy dislike, but the hate reference, leads me to believe that if we walked on water to win the game you would some how find a way to say that it wasn't really water at all.

I would assume this is because we do things like we did last week. Win.

Great Win Colonels! I am proud of the way you are responding and commend you. How the game ended and what it took for you to be in the position to create your own destiny, is much more important than any one play. It was a total team effort. Your getting there. Keep working. 2-0 and 5 to go! Next week is huge, and your opposition knows it. Celebrate and do a little dance this weekend, you've earned it, but on Monday morning you'll need to get back to it harder than before. It ain't gonna get easier from here.

I hate Dixie for the same reasons as Carson Palmer hates the Steelers. I at no point have bashed Dixie or said that their win was tainted. I have every right to hate them. I mean, i played last year and when someone beats you with 9 seconds left the sting after that game doesn't go away too quickly. And add on a 3 OT loss when you know everyone on the field personally, then there is no way i could have a positive feeling towards Dixie. I'm sure if you were in my position you would agree with me.

IMO, SK has to beat Campbell or Ryle to make the playoffs now. That's how significant this loss is for the Pioneers. Not an easy task ahead of them.

Dixie - Let's play hard "football" this week. Good luck.
