While I feel for this grieving grandfather, does anyone really agree with his view that when defending your home the homeowner has an obligation for a fair fight? At first I just assumed this was a reaction after the loss of his grandson but after seeing the interview, I get the impression this is a view he has held before the incident.

 

If a friend or family member were to ever decide on home invasion and killed in the process even they were unarmed and the homeowner went as far as to use a fully automatic rifle, even in severe grief, I don't think I could find the homeowner guilty of anything.

 

After I get my AR, there is no way if someone breaks into my house with only a knife and brass knuckles that I would even consider putting the rifle down to grab a more "fair" weapon, the person or persons will be shot with sound suppressed .300 AAC Blackout rounds. Am I wrong for this view?

What was fair about breaking into someone's home and surprising them with knives and brass knuckles?!

Hate to talk about the man while he's grieving, but he's an idiot if he really believes what he's saying about the incident.

It is a really sad story but it was a home invasion with three felons against one homeowner. If he didn't have such a superior weapon the homeowner may be dead.

 

Just like there is strength in numbers, there is also strength in having the right tool for the job.

 

You are NOT wrong for your view at all, the Grandfather has it wrong.

Raise your kids or grand kids correctly and they won't have to worry about getting shot by breaking into a house.

Just crazy. He was a law abiding citizen in his home. THEY choose to break the law. Their deaths are a result of their actions.
