2017-18 Kentucky Roster

They aren't passing on them, that's why they draft them...

They would be passing on them if they didn't draft them a 2nd time.

See my post #134. They draft a player they control their rights. Said player would have to play for the team that drafted them or wait another 3 years before they could sign with another team. No player would do that.

They might if they feel they could go back to school, and improve their stock, thus improving what the NBA teams would be willing to pay to sign them.

No player would go back to school for 3 more seasons rather than making millions of dollars over those three years. No one. It's all about getting to that second contract for NBA guys. If they did what you're suggesting they'd be leaving millions upon millions of dollars on the table.

Don't the international players do it? Are all the international players drafted professional players when they're drafted?

Yes. Well, I guess not all of them, but all the ones that decide to stay overseas after being drafted are all playing for pay over there.

Nope. The NBA would just have it where the team that drafts a player controls their rights for 3 years or so after they drafted them.

Why do you say they control them for 3 years? Is that part of the CBA?

It seems a team should only be able to control a player for one year (or the length of a signed contract).

I'm saying if the NCAA would start allowing guys who don't sign with agents to get drafted and then decide to go back because they don't like where or who drafted them, that the NBA would just implement a rule that would allow them to control a players draft rights to discourage against it.

I used three years as an example because that's the length of a 1st round contract.

Former NC State signee 6'2" G Thomas Allen has been contacted by Kentucky. Ranked #150 by 247sports.

Early Entry players are bound by their drafting teams until one year after the first NBA Draft they could have entered as non-Early Entry players. For example, Ben Simmons declared for the 2016 NBA Draft after his freshman season, making him an Early Entry player. Whichever team drafts Simmons will hold his Draft Rights until the 2020 NBA Draft, one year after the first draft Simmons could have entered as a non-Early Entry player (2019 NBA Draft). As such, the consequences of an Early Entry player not signing a player contract are much more severe than for non-Early Entry players.

So it sounds like it's already in place.

I haven't seen Allen much, but when I did he was a big time bucket getter. Listing him at 6'2" is quite generous, and he's much more of a small scoring guard than a point. Could be a kid that provides some scoring and shooting off the bench...

Briscoe "Could" run with some second squads in the right situation. Would need to cut down on sloppy turnovers. But on the right team he could fit in, but I'd be shocked if even in a good situation he could make it more than a couple of seasons.

Briscoe can not play in the NBA. He gets a running start because the other team doesn't guard him and then overpowers small guards. In the NBA they will guard him and be as strong as him. He will never make a roster full time in the NBA. Hope I am wrong, but he doesn't impress me at all.

I did say "Could", but it would have to be the perfect situation for him.

Kentucky has offered 6'8" SG Cam Johnson. He's a graduate transfer from Pittsburgh. He will have 2 years of immediate eligibility wherever he winds up.

Averaged 11.9 ppg last season for the Panthers and is a 42% shooter from deep.
