Inappropriate cheers from the Perry County Central/Pikeville basketball game

Featured Replies

I dont speak for them. Just a observation of how much thats frowned upon. This stuff happens all the time. Everywhere. Right or wrong.

Obviously wrong.

Sometimes you scratch your head while watching our tax dollars work.

What does the administration have to do with it? Its not at a school facility. Event is not being ran by a school.

The administration has everything to do with it. It is pretty normal to see anywhere from 3-6 people from the school "monitoring" student sections at sporting events.

I feel that even those who are "monitoring" students tend to let way too much go. I am all for the cheering and chants, I think it adds to the atmosphere, when it comes to individual attacks... I think they have gone over the line.

I am all for an enthusiastic student section because it makes a difference in how your team plays sometimes , but come on guys keep it classy !!!

If the PCC Administrations condones this type of behavior they are despicable.

Pikeville administration.

Yes.

Perry Central has the transfers.

Yes but G was saying the PCC administration needs to do something and I don't know what PCC did wrong today.

A thread about negative student section cheers and no mention of CCH? What the heck?

As I always say, we have to remember that these are students 15-18 years old and in a crowd of 150+ of their peers. The mob mentality is real, and every single one of us said something we wish we hadn't at that age. Sad situation all around, but I'm sure the extra attention this site and other social media outlets is bringing to it will get administration's attention and HOPEFULLY they will take care of it.

From reading the opening post of thread plenty on the part of PCC.

Maybe I am confused, what did the PCC Student Section do and what did the Pikeville Student Section do?

The Pikeville student section was chanting at two Perry central players. They didn't transfer from Cordia. They last played at June Buchanan for Elisha Justice, who now coaches Pikeville.

My bad. I thought it was Cordia? Were they are Cordia to start?

Perry County Central has two Africans on their team. Every time they went to the free throw line the Pikeville student section chanted USA at them. It happened every time they went to the free throw line the whole game. The Pikeville students didn't chant USA when Damon Tobler or Richard Cornett went to the free throw line. When Prince Anosike and Idris Akenyemi went to the free throw line.....USA USA USA USA USA. That was from the Pikeville student section. Perry County Central's kids didn't do or say anything out of the way IMO.

A sad state of affairs.
