I sat on the Augusta side for that game. The only game I've ever cheered for them. The COOLEST moment I've experenced in HS sports happened. Early in the game, MoCo student section gave the old "We cant hear you" to Augusta's diminutive Student Section.

 

With a few minutes left in the game, and the Panthers clearly in control, the Augusta half of the gym, probably 1500 or so folks, all stood and in unison did the "we can't hear you" chant in return. It was as electric of a moment as you could imagine. I won't forget!

 

I believe this! My son used to be a member of the Mason County cheering section and he would always say that during the mason-Augusta classics over the past 4 years it felt like you were cheering against the whole town. It's really cool to see the collective support they give the basketball program!

The band is the best part of the high school atmosphere!

8th region championship or semi-final night in Henry county High school is always as good as it gets to me, either one.

Paris vs. Bourbon County back in 1991. The game started at 7:30 and the Fire Marshall had to close the doors at 6:30. This happened at the old Southside Gym, the former home of the Paris Greyhounds. It was the Alvin Sims vs. Corey Williams show. It turned out to be a dunkfest!

Somehow some way...I got a hold of some tickets and was selling them at Hardee's a block from the gym...Scalping back in '91!!

Just park in the Desha's lot and you will have post-game beverage in hand before the teams even get back to the lockerrooms.

Parking isn't an issue at the Fieldhouse, sure you may have to walk, but doesn't that come with it? Not everyone is able to park right next to the door regardless where you hold it.

Why is everyone OK with walking half a mile to Fieldhouse. But at Bracken walking 30 feet, getting on a shuttle bus, then walk ten feet the worst thing ever? It's really not as horrible as some make it out to be.

 

I don't care where it's hosted, how far the drive is, how big the gym is, how bad the parking is... if I get to see a great high school basketball game I'm going to do whatever it takes to watch!

Yes and you have a better chance of getting in to see that great game at Mason County. Someone said the crowd at last week's Mason/Bracken final would have meant some would be turned away at the door had it been played at BC.

When the district is at Bracken I don't know why they haven't gone to a girls final on Wednesday and a boys final Thursday. Or at least Thursday/Friday. It would help with more money and more people could watch.

You should never have to walk half a mile to the Fieldhouse lol, you have 2 schools surrounding MCHS that have parking available along with 68, and the parking lot to the football field behind the high school.

 

As for the Bracken shuttle, it's just a pain in the you know what. Waiting for shuttles to take you to and from your vehicle is very inconvenient, especially after games when everyone is trying to leave at the same time. It's unnecessary to go through all that trouble when you have the perfect venue 20 miles down the road.
