The Best High School Atmosphere

Featured Replies

2001 10th Region Semifinals double header. Had to have been one of the largest crowds there from what I remember. Campbell Co. vs Montgomery Co. Mason Co. vs Brossart.

2007 Final between Mason Co. and Clark Co. was a great atmosphere as well. Miller vs Knowles round 2. (Met in 2006 final).

2011 9th Region Final: Dixie Heights vs Newport Central Catholic. What a game!

I was at 2001 10th Semi-Final night (back when it was Friday night) like it should be. Fun night.

Smaller gyms with a big crowd is always fun....

Jerry Fogle beating Maysville

Fantastic game, Fieldhouse again. That was back when I was a Maysville guy.

With postseason basketball in full swing in the state of Kentucky, emotions are in full swing. From players, to fans it simply just means more to everyone this time of year.

For me the 2010 Clark County vs Mason County at the legendary Fieldhouse is the best atmosphere I have ever witnessed at a high school basketball game; between the student sections, Clark County sitting on the traditional "Mason County bench", Darius Miller and DeMarcus Cousins were in the house, and the fact both teams not only had a shot to win region but also the state title that year this was one for the record books!

So, you have heard my best moment, whats yours?

Maybe the best atmosphere of any game I've been to.

For those not old enough to remember, this was the Billy Ray Fawns (47 points, 3 to tie it in regulation, 3 to tie it again in OT) vs. Shawn Myrick (44 points) show. 99-92 2OT win for the Indians. 1995 regional final.

Mason/Augusta - 2014 at Bracken County

Mason/Augusta - 2016 at Bracken County,

These are mine as well. I will add the region final in the 10th last yr.

The best high school atmosphere I have ever seen was Ashland/Rose Hill for the district championship at Boyd County Middle, when OJ, Dawson and crew were there. The game went to triple overtime and given the animosity between the two school that place was electric from start to finish. I don't know what Boyd's gym seats but there wasn't a seat open and most stood the entire game.

Back when you had to park up and down 68 because of the large crowd.

I'm a rather newbie to Kentucky h.s. basketball but really liked when the 7th region was @ Bellarmine. In 2011 Eastern was playing J'town and tickets were sold out days before the actual game. Coming from Indiana this was unheard of, how could tickets go on sale days before the actual game. I called Eastern h.s. just to confirm what I already knew, the Secretary tells me "we're sold out." For some unknown stubbournes I drive over to Eastern h.s. around noon, I walk in and the principal or AD (not sure which) overheard me asking about tickets. Says he has 1 extra in his office that I could purchase. I did and attended a very loud and excited Eastern vs J'town final. Hundreds of ppl were standing @ the door wanting in just to catch a glimpse of the scoreboard. I should have played the lottery that day because I was very lucky.

Yousurethis was not 2008? Miller graduated in 2008.

From what I hear the state tournament at Freedom Hall in Louisville was great.

No, it was 2010. We sit behind Cousins and Miller on the stage bleachers for most the first half since everywhere else in the Fieldhouse was taken lol

OH, I remember. They were in the stands and came to watch. Yes that was a good one.
