I rarely post here because of what the forum has devolved into, not because of a lack of interest.

 

I am interested in the topics and would like to take part, but am weary of the participants, the predictable antics, and the tired rhetoric. There is nothing to gain anymore, at least for me.

I have a different perspective on what is wrong with the forum, but I am trying to conduct myself as if I am double secret probation, because even with its faults, this is the most balanced political forum that I have found.

Arguing, name calling, labeling, division just isn't my idea of fun. And I come to BGP for the entertainment value only because we see enough of that other stuff in real life.

 

I probably need to be in the weenie hut junior political discussion forum, where everybody has ice cream after every discussion and we all are friends again.

I can remember back when Bush was in office. It hasn't changed much at all since then. Political forums are never easy going. This one is so much better than anything you'll find anywhere else on the internet.

I disagree with a lot of people on here, but over the years there are maybe only one or two people I couldn't see being friends with. SF and I are complete opposites in this forum, I bet if I met him we'd get along just fine. I don't get too wrapped up in our differences, most of the people on here are good people regardless of what side of the political aisle they're on.

I think this is one of the more respectful, and certainly one of the best moderated political discussion boards I've ever seen. Sure I like reading the high school sports forums to cure a little bit of home sickness now that I live out of town, but when I decided to come back to BGP this was the board I was most excited to be able to post on again.

Clyde, I respect you, I truly do. I only wish you were one tenth as hard on Obama as you are on Trump. I get it, you don't like him. Heck, I'm not a fan really either, but I feel the need to defend him because of the hypocrisy and double standards I see on here. Plus, I make no bones about the fact I'm conservative. But I've watched you make excuses for Obama over the years for things I just couldn't fathom. Now you seem to love to bash Trump at every opportunity. Again, I get it, you don't like him, but how about practicing some of the civility you asked for when Obama was POTUS?

 

I hate Trumps personality. He is getting the job done and done very well so far. Whether or not I would want to have a beer with the guy and hang is meaningless to the business at hand. The left was in a love affair with the articulated Barry. The love was not based on policy but more like a movie star type of affection. He could do no wrong. Trump is not Barry but he will get more positives done domestically and internationally. He will hold people who work for him accountable unlike the last administration filled with deceit and cover ups. Like him or not hes what's best for washington right now.

I happened to approve of both Former President's personality and policy. I didn't like President Trump's personality long before he became President. With the exception of his nomination for the Supreme Court, I feel his policy is horrible. I simply am not for banning immigrants, destroying our public educational system, and rolling back environmental protections. Maybe if he gets all those jobs he's promised, I can find something to approve of. So far, nothing. All that said, it would be nice to say that at least he's a nice guy. But he's not. He is a bully.

Just because he gets things done without kissing backsides (like our previous POTUS) does not make him a bully.

Wasn't it you that said there is no chance you respect him as a man? If you can't respect him as a man, I seriously doubt you respect him in office. You certainly aren't giving him the same chance you gave Obama.

 

100% incorrect. No, I do not respect him as a man. He has my respect for the position he was fairly elected to and , again, is MY president. I didn't respect President Clinton as a man either. Heck, I wouldn't have necessarily respected President HRC had it happened. They all get my respect for their position.

 

I'm still waiting for you to show me where President Obama was a trainwreck the first 30 days as President Trump has been. Fortunately, much of his inability to be a good POTUS hasn't been reflected in policy yet. He's been a trainwreck as a POTUS trying to build a team, look presidential, and not be embarrassing.

 

Maybe the next 30 days will be better.

 

P.S. I'm thrilled with the stock market. If he wants to take credit for that, have at it. I'll be happy for him.
