I've got a niece in law about to do ten years because of problems with addiction. It affects everyone one way or another, I have a new teenage daughter to raise now.

My sincere sympathy on the second bolded. My sister (only sibling) died in her early 40's as a direct result of substance abuse. It has no mercy and no prejudices.

I'm torn, I've got anger at her and the parental instinct to give her daughter a better home and head start in life (which my wife and I will do like she was born to us). My kids trump all my wants and needs. I just don't understand how all parents don't feel that way. I'm aware of the power of addiction but when you are responsible for another you do not start doing drugs to begin with. It's selfish. Sorry for your loss.

It has no mercy and no prejudices. Im sorry McPapa. I mean that. A young fella I hired a few years back died like this. I knew he was doing it and the company I worked for at the time got him into rehab and I thought he was doing good. Same result. It crushed me and he was not even my immediate family. You are right it has no mercy. It has destroyed the small town I live in( Meth and Heroin).

Obviously, when Trump said that the media are "enemies of the people," it was a generalization that was never intended to apply to every single journalist in this country. So, detailing one inspirational story about a patriotic journalist is supposed to prove that Trump is wrong about the media collectively? What the Washington Post did here is as bad as Trump's generalization. Proving that one journalist bucks a general trend only lends credence to what Trump says about the media. I absolutely agree with Trump's charges. The thing that Trump leaves out is the fact that if the media simply did their job and reported the news in an unbiased manner and provided a real balance to government power, neither he nor Hillary Clinton would have been nominated as candidates for the presidency. The Fox News Channel provided hundreds of millions of dollars worth of free campaign advertising to Trump. Until the general campaign, no major media outlet provided critical coverage of the considerable ethical and legal problems of either Trump or Clinton. Most of the rest of the national media served as an advocate and character witnes for for Hillary Clinton. The American people deserved better candidates that Trump and Hillary, and had the media done some basic factual reporting, we would have been spared both. In fact, if the media were performing a service for the American people, neither Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump would have believed they had any shot at winning a nomination. As an honorable profession, journalism in this country is all but dead. Yes, there are exceptions to that indictment, but in general, what we have is political activism masquerading as journalism. Americans are right to mistrust journalists as much or more than they distrust their elected officials. Trump has been a victim of fake news, but he was also a beneficiary of the same system that he now condemns.

Most of them are not free, but bought and paid for like congress. They are driven by their own agenda or the owners agenda. Some need their credentials revoked. If you cant listen and figure this out, there is no help.
