I received an email late last night from Cincy Music asking for support to protest the sale. The Board was going to meet at 8:30 this morning, and the protest was scheduled to begin at 8:15.

Here's the contents of the email I received at 7:54 last night.

An update on the Save WNKU campaign

Northern Kentucky University has been exploring the possibility of selling the WNKU public radio station, which has been a major part of Greater Cincinnati's music community for over 30 years.

We've just learned of an update to the situation and we need your help tomorrow morning!

On Tuesday, February 14th at 8:30 am, Northern Kentucky University's Board of Regents will hold a closed executive session to discuss third party offers to purchase WNKU radio. At the end of the session, the Board will decide whether to table the discussion for a later date or vote to accept an offer. This may be our last chance to show our support for WNKU. Please join us outside of room 104 on the first floor of NKU's Student Union tomorrow morning at 8:15 am. If you own any WNKU apparel, please wear it. Please share this information with everyone you can via e-mail and social media.

While the Executive Session is closed to the public, we hope to send a message to the Board before and after the session that the over 3000 member stakeholders who fund WNKU will not stand idly by while NKU's Board of Regents determines the fate of our station.

Again, please join us tomorrow morning to show your support for WNKU.

I have no firsthand knowledge to tell you whether or not it's true, but I was told that WNKU did not have any fund drive events in the last fiscal year...and it's unclear whether that was a decision made by the personnel who operate the station, or if it was a decision handed down to those personnel from individuals at the university.

If it's true that they didn't have a fund drive, and it turns out to be a decision made by the station, then they imploded from the inside. If there was no fund drive on orders from the university, then it sounds like the university was intent on unloading the radio station already.

I was going to go with a long-winded post that would make BBF proud, but by the end I understood the question I was trying to ask.

Is AM/FM radio really worth $2M? Seems like a great deal for NKU, listenership be damned...

That sucks - I have supported that station for the past 10 years.

This looks like quite a difference in content:

BBN Radio

I just don't understand all of the disappointment here. Why would you not be happy that more people who need to hear Jesus' message will be able to do so? Better than that old sinful music.

My first go-to station, and the one that's on in my car 98% of the time.

Not aware of any other cutting edge eclectic stations in the area that will help keep me informed while also satisfying me by playing underground cuts of yesteryear.

WEBN angry stoner rock, and Fox's Classic Rock just ain't gonna cut it.

I liked Freebird and Hotel California the first 500 times I heard them, and Disturbed and Nikleback...Well 'nuff said...

Big loss for anyone who likes to keep up with some fresh sounds, and before anyone says that there's nothing new worth listening to it's because you haven't been paying attention, and find it way to easy to blanket cover to avoid admitting your own lack of keeping up with it.

I can't name an era where there hasn't been decent music made, long before my teen and college years, during, and long after...The torch is constantly being passed.

I will listen to either Classical on WGUC or Big Band on an obscure station before taking the chance of subjecting myself to Guns n' Roses.

This Sucks... The day the music died.

Sucks for the people in to true radio instead of corporate radio. Unfortunately NKU has been looking forward to this day for some time. Though I'm not happy about it I'm not surprised at all, I'm surprised that the station lasted as long as it did. Either way it's a sad day for local supporters of real radio.

Didn't realize that people listened to this.

NKU Alum and had no idea they had a radio station, let alone one for 30 years.

It was on the main floor of Landrum.
