I agree, I'm with you on this one.:thumb: How could anyone possibly criticize a guy, who after a grueling friday night in the booth (saying nasty things about everyone not in maroon) conjours up enough intestinal fortitude to come out to the field on sundays (with a lot of help from adopted son GIAT) to mow grass, pull weeds, pick up popcorn boxes, discard old abandoned junk, and do countless hours of general spiffy-up work just to make Putnam the national treasure it is. He has earned the right to be considered right on everything.

I watched this game on tv... P-burg was in this game for awhile, but their depth wasnt to good and P-burg wore down in the 4th. I cant wait for the game between JC and Ashland.

I think it's funny how everyone always criticizes D. Martin all the time but when he supports your argument, then he's what he said is ok with you.

 

Dickie is a good guy, and a Die hard Ashland fan. His opinions and comments toward Ashalnd and the teams they play arent any different nor as classless as some of the folk's comments on here. Keep up the good work Mr. Martin.

But back on topic, it was a good game by both teams. Prestonsburg had a good showing and hopefull can gain some momentum for the rest of the season. Good luck to the Blackcats. Ashland still has work to do. The running game was still good but lets keep getting better. Use the bye week to our advantage. I think Ill take a trip to Johnson Central this Friday night. Good luck to both teams there, hopefully Boyd can make a game out of it.

I guess I must have been watching a different game than some of the posters here, because from the 40 yard line where I was, I never saw Ashland in trouble, this game was never close even in the first half.

 

How did Ashland start the game? They recovered a fumble and promptly marched it down the field and scored.

 

Ashland “Ground Game” was on target but the passing game wasn’t, with Ashland throwing two nice passes on target, and the rest was strong armed way pass receivers

 

Some here has posted that Walters was hit in the back while not even in the play this was true, but it wasn’t the infraction that had the coaching staff raving on the sidelines. Aaron Erwin 77 was in a pile up with his knees pinned between players while a Blackcat player stood over him after the play shoving down on his chest which appeared to look like the kid was trying to blow out his knees... this is just not acceptable behavior.

 

I agree with Hart this series needs to end.

 

The second half proved to be all Tomcats, with about 6 minutes or so to play Ashland put in the JV defense and the Blackcats took advantage of it marching down the field and scoring. Ashland then drove the ball back into the red zone and took a knee to end the game instead of risking any more injuries.

 

Ashland passing game was lacking accurate passing but the OL gave him time to throw and the ground game was solid. Ashland won a game in what has proved to be hostile country, say what you will, but I call this a good win for Ashland

My impressions of the ballgame echo much of what has already been stated. One of the more significant points from my perspective was what appeared to be a lack of intensity at the beginning and through much of the ballgame. I realize there are ebbs and flows throughout a season and its probably not possible to systematically maintain peak emotional levels for every single game...but…as one poster already mentioned, we had an opportunity to put this team away early and didn’t.

 

Our passing game seemed way out of synch all evening…for whatever reason(s) some nights just aren’t your night. The running game however kept on rolling. I particularly liked the power game displayed by Davis and Cordle, not to mention the amazing and continued improvement of Matt Thomas. Thomas is quickly pulling away from the pack as our regions premiere running back.

 

Defensively we stood our ground much of the night but had a couple of noticeable lapses in our secondary coverage. McDavid’s pick and return for six was nothing short of sweet though.

 

As for this being the final game with the Blackcats, it appears this series should be put on hold for awhile. There are other teams out there which may better prepare us for the AAA(A) playoffs.

 

So…what game will we attend next Friday?,,,I really dislike these bye weeks.
