Belfry vs. Pikeville

Featured Replies

So what does billyrayjoebob think about this game?

He is thinking that Pikeville should not play their starters, so they will be healthy for district games.:D

He is also thinking that Belfry fans are a tad arrogant, and he likes this.

A valid question that I think needs to be answered, and definately not intended to be a tongue in cheek comment:

What about this Pikeville team will be able to change the disparity that has been present between these two teams over the past 5 years?

Keep in mind that Belfry took the Panthers to the ole woodshed last year and returned quite a bit of talent...... what will make up that difference this year?

A 7-6 Pikeville lead at half-time is NOT "taking the Panthers to the ole woodshed"....

Don't fall for it...

When Belfry then outscores you 29-7 in the second half and the starters are pulled by the game's end...then that..my friend..is a good ole fashion tail kickin

Thats better guys. :thumb:

Belfry has to do more than show up.

I was hoping for some REAL analysis. If my forecast is wrong, then tell me why Pikeville fans (or Belfry fans for that matter).

I was offering my viewpoint in hopes that someone would have something better to say than. "guess we should rest our starters"

Since 2001...

Belfry 135

Pikeville 32

Pikeville has 3 state championships.

Belfry has 2.

What does this have to do with THIS year?!

NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:flame:

Zeus,

What you say is true for the most part, but much of the personel on Friday will be the same or at least similar for both squads. Can last season at least be relevant?

You are correct Zeus...so what is different about this year that will buck this trend? Thats all I want to know?

Is Pikeville really that improved to make up a 23 point deficit to Belfry who returns a brunt of last year's team?

Nope. Totally different team, playing totally different positions. For example, Honakers are now linebackers. They weren't last year. This year's team and last year's teams are just different. Also, our bench is somewhat stronger/deeper. We will know the answers come Friday night.:thumb:

I can't wait. Haven't been able to make a game since week 1 and am axious to see Belfry "as is" against a solid opponent.

I don't mean to come off as arrogant. I do expect Belfry to win the game. I am not one who can't "take off the blinders". In week one, I predicted a loss for the Pirates. I just don't see how CoachJ (as much as I respect him) can make up the difference in one year.

Homefield should play an important role. I think If Pikeville can force a few punts early on, the game will be closer than I have said to this point. I still think this Belfry team has more depth than any in 5 years or better, and that will be the difference.

Pikevilles front 7 are alot stronger than Belfry has seen in the last five years. If Belfrys players are as overconfident as theyre fans than they are in for a big surprise.

Maybe, but they still don't weigh as much as typical Pikeville lines of the past, or as much as this years Belfry line.

I don't think Pikeville is concerned about weight as much as strength.

I guess, if they were they would spend more time at McDonalds and less in the weight room.

I've seen alot of 250-300lb lineman pushed around by smaller, stronger lines.
