Republicans vs Trump

Featured Replies

Where will we see the Republicans break rank with Trump? There are rumblings here and there on various issues. Somewhere the Republicans are going to break. What issue(s) will it happen on? Will they turn down one of his Cabinet choices to show some strength?

Doubtful. It's Trump's world and we're just living in it for now.

May get some push back on infrastructure he will be pushing...for some idiotic reason they've seemed not too concerned about it.

Trumpcare. He will see what Congress is really like.

Totally agree, especially if he has any design on establishing some oversight on the mega insurance companies or big pharm.

With the comment yesterday that he is considering lifting bans on Russia we saw unity in the Rs saying that he should not do it.

I was joking with my sister yesterday (she is liberal and I am conservative) and said the EXACT SAME THING to her PP:lol2:

Yep, I see Trump and McCain sparring on a few things. Let's face it, they do NOT like each other...

Their willingness to push back against Trump is directly tied to their electoral prospects in 2018/20. I don't expect to see any principled stands otherwise.

It's not just Sen McCain. This seems to a universal feeling amongst Republicans.

I foresee something in the neighborhood of eleventy billion executive orders. It will be interesting to watch the reactions of those who have bemoaned the EO as an instrument of accomplishing things over the past few years..

Almost always trumps principle.

Among those who have bemoaned the EO as an instrument to circumvent the Constitution was every member of the U.S. the Supreme Court.

Hopefully President Trump will run his administration within the bounds of the Constitution better than former President Obama did.

Hopefully. Didn't take long for a federal judge long to slap down part of the immigration EO. Is that some kind of speed record?

I doubt that it is. It is not unusual for a judge to issue temporary restraining orders. The judge's rulings only affected 100 to 200 immigrants who have already arrived and were detained at airports across the country and green card holders who are already here.

Those in Syria and other ISIS hotbeds, who Hillary planned to welcome by the thousands, will not be allowed into the country. If that is a setback for Trump, then I look forward to more of them.
