I mean, if you want to look at it that way, what was the point of having a mascot ever?

One of the schools near where I grew up had Mustangs for the guys and Fillies for the girls.

 

Stallions and Fillies would work.

I'd be more upset at the lack of creativity not the meaning. Brand new school, a chance to create a unique mascot ( a la Juggernaut) and a quick and easy Stallions is what was created? Bleh. Get creative

I wonder if anyone has mentioned that a school in Kentucky has "Camels" as a mascot...seems to me that would somehow be offensive to someone

I don't like a lawsuit like this filling up our court system, but I do agree a school mascot name should probably be gender neutral. It always bugs me when female teams will call themselves like the Lady Wildcats. They are just Wildcats who happen to be female.

 

So it may shock some of you but I agree the name needed to be changed.

I like the Abolitionists! It's catchy, unique and fits with the school name!
