We can't keep denying that the guy is injury prone anymore. It amazing that the 2 best TE's in the league now both have never played a full season.

January 2, 20179 yr Also we may have lucked out with the other wrs going in the first round. None of those guys really did much of anything. I see Boyd ending up being a TJ Houshmandzadeh type. Never going to be a #1 type wr but will be a very good #2 wr who runs great routes and catches everything. Maybe I'm too negative, but I don't think Boyd sniffs how good Housh was.

January 2, 20179 yr The only thing Marvin Jones has on Boyd is the deep route/big play potential. In every other way, I prefer Boyd. On the TD/red zone comparison, Marvin Jones caught 4 TD passes this year in Detroit. LaFell caught 6 TD passes for the Bengals. In his career, Jones had 1 TD pass in 2012, 10 in 2013, 4 in 2015 (injured in 2014) and 4 this year. The Bengals receiving core this year was just as good, if not better, this year than it was last year with Jones and Sanu. Andy Dalton with the injuries to AJ and Eifert had perhaps his best year ever throwing it with the current receiving group. God forbid the Bengals waste a high draft pick on a WR with all the other areas of need. Positive side note to the season: Bengals end the year with a win. :sarcastic:

But no way do I take Lafell and Boyd over Jones and Sanu. Just my opinion, but I'm going Jones and Sanu every time. But what if the players the Bengals have graded out at their position in the draft aren't there. But a receiver graded out that high is there? Do you reach on a player because all the other more desirable options are off the board, or do you draft the best player available? Tough call for me.

One thing's for sure, it was a good move for Sanu & Jones--They're still playing, while the Who-Deys are cleaning out their lockers!
January 2, 20179 yr Sanu is the most overrated WR the Bengals have had in the past 5 years+. Easily replaceable ... and he was easily replaced this year by a rookie. Boyd's rookie stats are about the same as Sanu's. Jones has deep play potential which makes him more valuable and a little tougher to replace. As a combo, yes I would take Jones/Sanu right now over LaFell/Boyd but the margin is not that great and it is all because of Jones and his deep play potential, not Sanu. That is based strictly on performance. Throw in the contract factor and it is extremely lopsided in favor of LaFell/Boyd.

The reason is Burkhead is not a power runner, he is a hard runner, but you are correct he hits the hole better than any back we have. There is nothing I don't like about him. 3rd and two I still take Hill. I think 3rd and short is Hills worst usage. He dances behind the line too much and rarely hits the hole with any power at all. A couple weeks back when we had 1st and goal from the 2 and Hill got the ball 3 straight times and couldn't score and it took Dalton on 4th down to run it in is all I needed to see from Hill on short yardage.

January 2, 20179 yr Maybe I'm too negative, but I don't think Boyd sniffs how good Housh was. It took until Houshmandzadeh third season I believe before Houshmandzadeh really even contributed. Let's not forget this was only Boyd's rookie year.
