theguru Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Chicago’s yearlong shooting rampage picked up steam over Christmas weekend, leaving 61 people shot, 11 fatally. Seven were killed on Christmas Day alone, more than on the three previous Christmases combined, according to the Chicago Tribune. So far this year, 4,334 people have been shot in Chicago: one person every two hours. Almost all the victims have been black. The police have shot 25 people, virtually all armed or otherwise dangerous — less than .6 percent of the total. That disparity between civilian and police shootings hasn’t stopped local Black Lives Matter activists from continuing to claim that it’s the cops who are the biggest threat facing Chicago’s young black men today. As Chicago backs off policing, its murder rate skyrockets ever higher | New York Post
BirdBrain Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 So the facts are that .005% of shootings are by police, but Black Lives Matter still wants the issue to be that police are the greatest threat to young black men..... This ole boy ain't that great with the numbers, but I'm not seeing it.... It makes one wonder if the BLM movement is more about creating total anarchy (as is being demonstrated in Chicago by the police backing down and the results) rather than actually espousing a true cause. Hmm ?
mexitucky Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 This same exact thing happened in Cincinnati after the Timothy Thomas riots. It isn't so much reaping what you sew as much as it is creating a power vacuum. Once authority is removed, a new authority will take its place. Right now, that authority is chaos.
jericho Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Would hate to be police chief there. No win situation. They need more black cops to patrol the inner city and places where most blacks live. It would give the younger black kids a role model and maybe grow up and want to be a cop.

As long as the standards aren't lowered like the Justice Department and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission recommended: In October, the Justice Department and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission recommended that police agencies lower their hiring standards—including requirements that applicants have a clean criminal record—to achieve “diversity.” The thinking behind this recommendation must be repudiated. Lowered hiring standards are a recipe for corruption and tactical errors. The The Justice Department’s own research in Philadelphia suggests that minority officers are more likely than white officers to shoot unarmed black males. Trump Can End the War on Cops - WSJ
NKY Bandit Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Lowering your standards never turns out well.
hidinout Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Someone on BGP suggested letting the weak be wiped out . Wonder if they feel that way towards these Americans ?
FarBeyondDriven Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 As I have stated in another thread, BLM has Marxist leanings.
LIPTON BASH Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 As I have stated in another thread, BLM has Marxist leanings. Not leanings they promote and are backed by strong socialist and communist groups.
PurplePride92 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Someone on BGP suggested letting the weak be wiped out . Wonder if they feel that way towards these Americans ? Uh oh, may have caught me one!!!!! We already treat Americans this way. We've been wiping out our own weak Americans for decades. We treat the poor like crap, we treat veterans like crap, we treat those that don't look or talk like us like crap. We've been wiping out those who can't take care of themselves and are weak since the beginning of our country. That's why I don't understand why we are supposed to go save Israel all of a sudden. Well, I know why we are going to save them but if we aren't going to save our own why in the hell are we saving them? Screw Israel save an American for a change instead of some stupid land that no one seems to know who owns. That's asinine. If you don't see this less policing taking place in Chicago as more systematic destruction of the inner city(blacks) then you'll never understand why I scream screw Israel from the top of my lungs. Hell, the issue in this thread should be about 4,334 and counting shootings taking place in Chicago. Instead folks want to talk about how the BLM chapter in Chicago is full of idiots. Nevermind about the innocent people who may catch a stray bullet while cowering down in their living rooms when they hear gunfire. The American mindset is well, they should move or go get a job that will have them living in a better situation. They need to get off welfare and maybe if they had made better decisions early in life they wouldn't have to live in a war zone. This is survival of the fittest. This is America. This is what we do to our own. We are failing ourselves as a country by allowing this type of violence to take place on an everyday basis in our own country. We are allowing the weak kill off the weak all on their own over land they don't even own. But let's talk turkey about gun laws or the Marxist BLM or about Israel and Palestine. This is decades long survival of the fittest in America. Thank God I'm fit because no one gives a damn about those who aren't. Unless they are in Israel. Screw Israel.

Police are not the answer to the problems that Chicago is facing. Once the citizens of a community lose either the desire or ability to police themselves you have a crisis. Chicago is a city in crisis and the police can't fix it.
Bluegrasscard Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Chicago is one this nations most segregated major citys. The demographics go from 90%+ one race to another neighborhood by neighborhood. Overall, the whites have the north. Hispanics and blacks have the central/west neighborhoods and the south side is mostly black now. Here is an interesting link with muliple maps of Chicago. http://www.gridgit.com/post_city-of-chicago-neighborhood-demographics_1394570/ I have said there are two Americas when it comes to violence/guns & gun control, etc. No other citiy shows this more than Chicago. Its seems Chicago PD has given up on the toughest sections of Chicago. The sad part is the police were maybe the last outside entity that cared about the trouble sections of Chicago. Obviously as @PurplePride92 points out above every other entity has already given up on much of the black inner city. Corporations, local government, national government, no one truly cares - so long as the violence and hardship is contained. Its not unlike what happened with the Taylor Homes giant public housing complexes in Chicago. The were bright and modern when opened - but deteriorated into gang-run super mega housing units eventually. And the reason these mega-giant Taylor Homes units were created - because Chicago refused to disperse public housing into the 'white' parts of the city. Now you have the same thing happening - its entire neighborhoods that have been abandoned to the gangs and illegal drug economy, not just giant housing complexes. I think BLM and the outsiders who pay for BLM prey on the plight on the trapped blacks who have been abandoned. Not unlike how the middle-east power brokers prey on the plight of the Palestinians a leverage against Israel. Not to digress, but the Israelis have treated the Palestinians better than any other government entity in the ME. The rest of the ME cares not about them in reality. And in Chicago the police may be the last ones who cared about these stricken, violence torn neighborhoods. Does anyone really care about the worst neighborhoods of Chicago or the Palestinians? Lets be honest - not really. So instead, lets leverage their suffering for some other motive is the attitude of string pullers of BLM and of the ME power brokers. That is the sad reality.
Jumper_Dad Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 From the article... Chicago is Exhibit A in what happens when the police back off from enforcing public order, having been told that maintaining control of the streets constitutes racial oppression. Arrests are down 28 percent this year in the Windy City, the lowest since at least 2001, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, and less than half what they were in 2010. Drug arrests are down by half. Pedestrian stops were down 82 percent by early fall. If the anti-cop activists and academics were correct, this drop in enforcement should have been a boon for minority areas. Those activists maintain, after all, that cops gratuitously harass residents there for insignificant behavior and throw harmless sad sacks in prison for possessing a joint’s worth of weed. The anti-cop forces particularly vilify Broken Windows policing — aimed at quality-of-life offenses like disorderly conduct, street drug trafficking and loitering. These critics insist cops should focus instead on “serious crimes.” And they seem to have convinced Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson. The department is de-emphasizing Broken Windows policing, Johnson told the Chicago Sun-Times over the weekend, to target what’s “really hurting Chicago right now, and this is the gun violence.” Making low-level narcotics arrests likely wouldn’t affect the gun violence, he said. But that distinction between serious crime and an allegedly less urgent breakdown in public order is specious. The best way to get gangbangers under control is to maintain street order. So the Chicago PD does what many wanted them to do... make less drug arrest, less pedestrian stops and less "Petty Crime" arrest and what happens...the streets blow up. What most people either don't realize or don't want to admit is that most crimes big and small are solved from interaction between police and law breakers. When the police turn their back on petty crimes the law abiding citizens lose any hope and the criminals are emboldened further. I've read that has many as 90% of the shootings include gang members from all cultures across the city. When a city is prosecuting gun crimes and giving minimum sentences in nearly all cases (1 year in jail as opposed to 3 to 5) and when social activist are complaining about anyone being sentenced to real prison time for drug cases, you end up with a revolving door of take one criminal off of the street and one returning to the street at the same time. There are many issues that need to be addressed in not only Chicago but plenty of inner cities with similar issues, but until someone gets serious about getting the criminals off of the streets for meaningful lengths of time...nothing put in place to help those needing help will have any lasting impact.
Jumper_Dad Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 There are some fixes, but they aren't easy or cheap...but easier and cheaper than 4000 dead and billions being wasted today. 1) Clean up the streets of life long full time criminals a) Stronger sentencing for gun crimes, violent crimes and repeat offenders...get them out of our communities b) Hire and Train Police Officers from local communities, zero tolerance for corruption c) Focus on homeless problems in these cities, shelters are cheaper than jails. Add Tech training at shelters 2) Improve education...make it 100% school centered a) Longer school days with a focus on better nutrition (3 meals a day?), physical and mental growth b) In school tutoring for all students...get away from "standardized" testing and Teach Students to their abilities c) No home work, no out of school projects...too many kids don't have the support at home, don't penalize them d) Year round schooling e) Technical or Trade School training made available for those not moving on to college 3) Jobs a) Better Technical and Skill training, build a trained job force b) Tax breaks for job creation and infrastructure for corporations willing to move into our poorest communities There are several more things that could be and need to be done, but this is a place to start.
