December 27, 20169 yr Good luck to this young man, and I wish him the best. I'm not sure, from a recovery perspective, that Mr. Pike has enough sobriety / recovery to be touting his story in this manner, but I also do not believe in working someone else's program for them. He has to figure that out. I would say that equating spending 6 months in county as "prison" is a stretch. He did 6 months in county, he was never in "prison", he was in jail....big, big difference. If this is what he needed to figure it out, then it's a win....I hope he puts some additional support around him as well.

Obviously he is a motivated young man now that he has righted his path and he was very talented and received coaching from some of the best coaches in the country so he might bring a wealth of knowledge. Plus, he obviously knows how to interact with the kids knowing seeing the work he has been doing in schools recently. Good for Zeke and good for CCH giving him a shot

Surprised he's getting into coaching? No, not at all. Surprised CovCath is allowing him to coach? Yes. He's only a year removed from his latest incident after years of issues. He's been on the straight now for a year, but is it too soon for him to be back in the environment that started it all?

You and I are on the same page. 2/3 of drug addicts relapse. This youngster was sitting in jail on his 3rd or 4th arrest just a year ago. If he can keep up the good work for a few years without relapse, then great. Give him a shot at coaching. CCH really playing a dangerous game of Russian roulette on this one though. They are putting a person in direct contact with their students who is more likely than not to relapse and get back into drug use.

It's a little surprising he was able to pass a background check (I assume they do background checks for coaches at Cov Cath), but hopefully he takes advantage of his opportunity.

I know a man who lived up that way who wasn't able to coach his son's soccer team at their family's Catholic school because the diocese wouldn't allow him to after getting a DUI 5 or 6 years prior.
