Louisville AD Needs to Go

He is garbage and he hires garbage. Basically he just came out and admitted to UL Football cheated. Although everyone who knows of Bobby Petrino's past knew when WF's plays were found in UL's lockeroom that Petrino was knee deep in it and even after he denied knowing anything about Wake's plays before hand the AD just comes out yesterday and admits to UL coaching staff having Wake Forest's plays ahead of time. Petrino is trash, Pitino is trash and the AD is trash.

That about sums it up.

I don't think Jurich is the despicable person I'm sure he'll be painted as in this thread, but I do think it's a fair question to ask of whether or not the university needs new leadership in the athletic department. Two major sports teams each with a scandal in the same year...Not a good look at all.

So, Galloway gets a call from Coach and good friend Snuffy Smith, guy he use to coach with back in the day at Backwoods Tech, and has had nothing to do with WF football. Coach Smith tells Galloway that he has some info to pass along about a special defensive scheme WF is looking at using against them next week. Elrod says "ok, I'm all ears". Is that scenario any better...same? Because I bet my scenario above happens ALL the time, in all levels of college football.

Wait. I'm confused. Why is it a UL scandal that a WF employee leaked plays?

And by most every writer in the nation.

It's a scandal for both teams, it's just no one in the world gives two craps about Wake Forest.

Louisville admitted they tried to cheat. I'm not sure how that isn't a scandal?

This is a fair post. To boot, the risk Jurich took in bringing back Petrino and the two time embarrassing Pitino sagas. With respect to on-field performance, he is top shelf.

I am by no means a UofL backer/supporter or fan...with that said, I agree with Jurich on this one...You take a phone call...A guy wants to give you some inside information, you listen, you might decide as a coach to go over some of the information.

Did the U of L staff seek out this information?

In the world of football people do things from Little League on up to gain competitive advantages...

I have know HS coaches who use scanners in their press box to try and scan opposing teams headset conversations during games...

I have known coaches to video tape other coaches signals while scouting...

I have known coaches who send people to watch other teams practices...and the list goes on and on.

What Uof L did, every other school in the country would have done...

What you also have to realize is, college coaches are so paranoid, the U of L coached probably didn't put tons of stock into what was said to insure they weren't being duped...non issue...the talking heads making a big to do about this are getting laughed at by every football coach in America.

As I said in the other thread, the collection of UL issues reflects very poorly on the school IMO. I'm not sure if Jurich deserves to be canned, but his attitude and recent comments leave a lot to be desired.

If any big name at Louisville should have lost his job, Rick Pitino would be that guy.

He might have the morals of a common palmetto bug but the man collects wins and has Louisville's athletics department as one of the best overall in the country in terms of performance

Say what you want about his clear lack of ethics, the man is one of the top AD"s in the country when it comes to quantifiable success. If Louisville did fire him there would be a host of schools waiting to scoop him up because the University wants to win and make money.

What I am waiting on is the motive for this Wake Forest stuff.

Was the guy trying to alter the game for betting purposes? Is he salty about the WF Head Coach and trying to sabotage him? Was he selling the playbook?

If this guy freely volunteered the playbook up I cant fault any of these schools for at least looking at it. If he was selling it and these schools bought it then no doubt the other shoe needs to drop.

Is this anything like insider trading?

If I get a hold of questions and answers that are going to be on an exam, and I offer them to you, are you not still cheating if you look at them or share them with others?

Is this anything like insider trading?

It maybe...the Wake guy might be putting lots of money against the spread...I doubt the Uof L coaches were thinking that way...

They probably sat around the coaches office laughing at the salty guy giving them the information...and doubling laughing at the Wake head Coach who was getting back stabbed...
