If it's anybody but the NFL itself or the team being escorted or the team they're going to be playing/have played, that's an issue.

And then some. Anyone that has come upon this would be shocked that all that road commotion is being caused by an NFL team.

I know the when the Bengals travel to Indy they don't use any escorts Inhave passed them a few times on 74.

Well then we should organize a BengalsLivesMatter rally to shut down part of I-75 so the Steelers can't get through. Probably the only way they can defeat the Steelers.

This happens for college teams as well, at least at the D1 level. Visiting teams are regularly escorted to and from their hotel to the stadium. In Tampa USF is escorted from the campus training facility to Raymond James Stadium on game day.

 

When USF played at FSU last season, USF had a police escort both ways between Tallahassee and Tampa, on US19. The buses never stopped for a red light.

I'd be willing to bet either NFL or home team takes care of the OT for the officers

While I'd prefer the Bengals or the NFL to foot the tab for the escorts, I'm ok with it being funded from the tax payers. There is a lot of additional revenue that comes with having a pro team in the area.

Should be no surprise. When I was in the band at UofL, we always got police escorts when we traveled to away games or bowl games. Just like @Footballforever74 said, when we flew to Miami, we unloaded the planes on the tarmac, got directly on the buses, and had a police escort wherever we were going.

 

I remember my freshman year going to Memphis for the Liberty Bowl. When we were about 15 miles outside Memphis, Memphis PD was posted up on the side of the interstate, and we didn't go anywhere the rest of the week without a 10-cop escort. We caused more traffic delays that week than anything I'd ever seen. :lol2:

I guess I never noticed because I'm busy tailgaiting before the game and at home or at bar after.

NewCath teams get a police escort when the leave the "hill" for State tournaments. Usually for about 10 miles. About 7 or 8 NewCath grads on the Newport Police force.

Who pays for these police-escorted motorcades?

 

The teams are probably paying the police some OT money.
