Congrats to CAL and good luck next week. No doubt this game was won in the trenches. Their line on both sides of the ball was very good. It was still a game early in the 4th. Been a good long ride and I have enjoyed following along. This stings!

Cardinal fans........we will be back!

Wright was a absolute stud! I enjoyed watching him play. He looks like he's a senior compare to most of those kids. Good game, overall turnovers killed us. I'm not going to mention the officiating but it wasn't much different from last week. Congrats to CAL. We shall see you again but this time next year it will be in the Purchase Area. Good Luck at state.

Don't mention the officiating, you'll embarrass yourself. We play CAL 10 times, WITH ARNETT AND TYLER, WE PICK THE OFFICIALS,, at home,, we lose 10 times. We weren't jipped, we didn't play bad, we got taken to the woodshed by a better team, PERIOD!

Knowing a lot of kids in CAL's program, you could see this coming. They are super young. The bulk of this team'/ talent are sophomores. Clearly they are coached well.

'Y biggest concern for them, next week, is getting caught up in the moment, and not just going out there to play.

Congratulations to CAL, sounds like an impressive performance. One of the hardest things to do is to take down the big dog. Mayfield has been the most consistent, biggest dog in the fight for quite some time. This was a super accomplishment.

Congrats to Mayfield too for being that good and representing KY HS football well. As passionate as the fan base is, they have earned the right to be confident and they back it up. I know this had to be a really tough night, and y'all have been nothing but pure class on here tonight in defeat. That is the way a champion should handle losing. Kudos.

OK, I think I am ready to return to the small school public playoffs now, also known as 1A football. Mayfield is going to have problems matching up with CAL for a couple of years considering all of their underclassmen.

It was a one score game as the 4th quarter started.

That was the most surprising part to me. Entering the fourth quarter, I still thought Mayfield might wear them down. The exact opposite happened. CAL was getting stronger as the game progressed.

They lose a lot in the trenches if I'm not mistaken, and that's where this game was won.

Change of subject - just for a minute. I was very quietly optimistic about DeSales this year. In my mind I kept thinking our defense was really, really good, and our young guys were improving week by week. I truly thought we were better this year than we were last season. Now I see that I was correct, especially about the defense, holding CAL to a total of 33 points in two games. Tied last week with two minutes to go, CAL scores on 4th and goal from the one, kid gets into the end zone by half a yard.....UGH, somehow that hurts more now than it did then.......

I really think it's going to be an arms race the next few years between CAL and DeSales. They have been waiting on this class for a few years. Losing Paulson is going to hurt. They do lose a few in the trenches along with him. DeSales had the best freshman class they have ever had this past year. That's saying a lot. We'll be better next year, and then watch out the next two. We'll have another strong freshman class coming in next year as well.

Are you saying we have no chance?

Not speaking for ColtPride, but absolutely not. Mayfield is ALWAYS there.

Yeah, the officiating was actually pretty on spot last night. Mayfield was beat in the trenches, Arnett was running for his life all night long. We just simply got whipped by the defense of CAL. Wright was the best athlete on the field Desales Dad, I agree, he is going to be something special, and he's only a sophmore. Great job Mayfield on getting to this point, nothing to be ashamed of and congratulations to CAL, on to play your first state championship, its a very special accomplishment.

Congrats to CAL. Good luck.

Hurts today and will for a while. Thanks to the players and coaches, a tremendous run for the past couple years has come to an end. It was done with tremendous effort and class and a respect for the game, so......thank you.

Absolutely not! Mayfield is a given. My comment was between us and CAL.
