In my opinion, Newport Catholic, Holy Cross and Russellville are all as good as Hazard and anyone Hazard played. And if you site New Cath's record, look At who they played. 3 6 A schools and Belfrey. New Cath is also big and pretty fast and Beechwood had no issues with that size and speed.

Lol BW played who? Granted Cov Cath was about the strongest BW played but was subpar at best! NKY has had a very down year! No doubt BW had the easiest Playoff route by far!

Hazard will do both and prefer to stay in the power I if you can't stop them.

FWIW I dont think there was a massive gap between NewCath and Pikeville this year.

 

NewCath was the superior Defensive team, but Pikeville had the more explosive Offense.

 

I would take NewCath by 7-14 points over Pikeville in a tight game. Don't know what that says about Hazard or how they match up with Beechwood, but just food for thought.

 

Looking at Hazard I would give them the edge over NewCath by maybe a TD (the way they are playing right now). Hazard has better Offensive Efficiency and the Smith kid is a star. NewCath lacked home run ability at the skill spots and Hazard has it.

 

I think just looking at this game I would normally take Beechwood by 14, but there is just some hunch I have that this Hazard team may match-up very well with them.

never said "beast". Actually never said Summerset but yea I remember BW just Blowing out Summerset this year now that you mention it! They were WAY below your standards! Hazard did play Paintsville and won convincingly! You know the number 1 ranked team in 1A Virtually ALL season! Another team they played you Beechies may remember Pikeville! Seems BW had a run in with that Eastern KY team last year about this time! Yea this one will be Pretty much the same outcome! Hey good luck though!

The addition of the combs kid who is able to play end and defensive tackle helps. Hazards interior line is pretty solid. The defense has step up the last few weeks as well.

I'm not taking anything away from Pikeville last year because they won but Beechwood had a lot of injuries to their starters last year. It would have probably been a different outcome had they had played.

The running back is the only injury I remember hearing last year. I'm sure Pikeville had them as well.

 

Both teams are use to playing on turf so no real advantage for either. This is going to be a good game. Pikeville was a little faster than some thought last year as well.
