Central 37 Boyle County 6

Featured Replies

Brighter days are ahead for Boyle, but until they can learn to tighten up turnovers and Special Teams when they play Central the Yellowjackets will continue to have their number in November

Congrats Central

And for Boyle, keep working at it.

Boyle finishes the season at 7-5 and Central moves to 7-5 and advances to the region finals to play Lexington Catholic in a rematch of last years region final.

The Rebels have a long way to go.

Boyle had the same problem with Central that they had with every good team they played this year. That was, the pro set style offense was too easily defended. If you don't have a very good QB, it is too easy to set your defense against that one good running back. Your OC must be flexible and be able to design your offense to match your talent. That did not happen this year. Hopefully something will change before next season. We have great talent coming the next four years and it would be a shame if your OC is outcoached in your big games and these kids can't achieve the results they are capable of. This is where the head coach makes the tough decisions. Loyalty to your assistants is one thing, but when it is to the detriment of your kids and program that is something else.

Growing pains. Expectations are always high but this season was an eye opener for the young Rebels. Next year expectations will be really high. I can't wait.

Good luck to Central!

I promise I am not trying to pick a fight or be argumentative but you and other Boyle County posters didn't like Chris Mason and now it sounds like at the least you have an issue with Chris Pardue. I think this year's team did exactly what they were expected to do. I suspect next year will have an intense two way, maybe three way battle for the job of starting QB and all three have different skill sets. I understand Coach Smith may have to make tough decisions like you said but at the same time he knows his staff better than we do and that staff knows their players better than we do. Boyle County has a ton of talented youth and look to be formidable for the next couple of years. I said it at the beginning of the year that this year is the experience building year and next year is when high expectations kick in. We watched the emergence of Reese Smith and Landen Bartleson. We watched the promise of Reed Lanter. We are watching Tanner Crawford come of age. We watched Nick Walker develop into a versatile player. We also watched a defense that had trouble stopping the run. We watched a turnover prone offense. We watched inconsistent line play on both sides of the ball. We watched an overall inexperienced team gain some valuable varsity experience. If we are going to be real we all know this team was not winning state and if people will be honest to themselves then they know this team got as far as they were going to go this season. Today, in 2016, I have zero criticism for the coaching staff. They know their players. We have to be willing to let the coaches do what they do. There is a reason they are coaches and we are spectators.

Well said. I firmly believe as an OC you have to taylor your offense to the talent you have on your team and that never happened this year, with that being said Pardue is a great coach he has the rings to prove it I think the difference between now and his first tenure as OC at Boyle was back then after the program was established he had the talent every year to run his offense and that's not been true since he's been back the talent has been down and he's not adapted very well, but I've not gave up on him yet I think he'll get the job done.
