The Graves County game from a couple years ago still gives me some pause, Bowling Green should have won that game by 3 TD's.

 

With all things being equal, the only teams I can see having a shot at one of those "Right time, right place" type of games are CovCath, Owensboro, or Christian County

 

Owensboro and Christian County have the athletes that could make enough plays if Bowling Green isn't focused

 

CovCath has the best overall team outside of BG.

 

If I had to choose I would err on the side of Bowling Green winning every game by 20+ points over winning one game by less than 10 though

 

There's no doubt BG was the favorite in that game, but I'm not sure it was the monumental upset of epic proportions that some make it out to be. GC caught lightening in a bottle that year and had a tremendous team. Several kids from that squad went on to play football on Saturdays and several others earned scholarships in other sports. GC struggled at the qb spot early that year, but once they moved Reed from WR to QB, they were really solid and good enough to hang with most teams in the state.

The game, if it happens would be at CovCath and it would be on Friday night under the lights

Not sure anyone in 5A could hang, this year.

 

Pretty impressive stats:

#10 in America (maxpreps, midsized school)

#1 ranked Highschool QB in America (qb rating)

#1 alltime leading scorer in backfield

probably 10+ kids on team that will play on Saturdays

 

Of course, anything can happen but we are pretty dang good this year. Fun to talk about

I have noticed in the past Northern Kentucky has played many "early" playoff games. For example, Highlands hosted Pulaski County last season the day after Thanksgiving and I "believe" that game started about 2 or 3 pm. My question is:

Is this practice common for CovCath as well?

 

I know the Colonels recently got new lights and needed to play earlier before then. Maybe that precident hasn't been set yet because of the new lights? Just curious.

 

Also, in this scenario would CovCath reach out to BG to ask if they wanted to do this? And if BG didn't agree, then it would be 7/7:30 that night? Just curious. Thanks

 

Would love to see a scenario where Russellville-Beechwood and BG-CovCath play on the same day at different times or on two separate days. I think this would bring in more people and money, as many outsiders would want to see these games and the close proximity between campuses.

Agreed. That BG team was a good team but I think most would agree that while they've should have won that game that Graves County team wasn't a slouch and that BG team was young in different spots. A lot of players that are seniors now were sophomores in that game.

This is unacceptable. We need a Saturday game so I can come watch it.

Never underestimate playing on the day after Thanksgiving 4 hours away. Getting out of a routine does weird things to teams. I know that Mayfield and Beechwood have done it, and Bell Co. and Central, but has BG ever had to travel this far for a semi final game?

 

Or playing under the temporary lights and engine noise...and I literally mean playing under them. This could be added to the list of distractions imo. Plus the Blueboys are undefeated under their new lights, its a funny game :thumb:

I think we'll just worry about Doss for now. No need to look one week out much less two.

If I remember correctly too BG had some injuries heading into that game and one or two major injuries that happened during the game.

GC, I love this, but that would be alot to ask of Russellville to make that happen as their drive would be the longest and they play first in this scenario, but I would go to it!
