The AD @ Anderson Co. is a stand up guy, I would never think that there is any behind the scenes stuff going on to try to oust Peach from there.

 

I know that some places the coach doesn't always get to dictate who is on their staff, but I don't think this is one of those situations. Peach has been there for 11 years & if I am a betting man I say that nobody gets on that staff unless he wants them on there.

 

You said it. When he came to Anderson in 2005 from Campbellsville University, he more or less was allowed to assemble his entire staff, and almost all of them were teachers that he was able to get into the system. His staff then (and, some still remain) was mostly all made up of assistant coaches he had at Campbellsville University and/or former players that he coached there.

I'm happy for Sam. A great get for Anderson County. Win Win all around.

I personally hope this is not Anderson trying to run Peach out, if so Coach Harp should have more class than be involved with it this way. If he is truly there to help Coach Peach then hats of to them all for a great addition. Here in Frankfort there is a lot of rumors but I have no clue if they are containing any fact.

Peach played for Harp at Anderson County. Very, very doubtful Harp is going to Anderson to run his former player out of town.

My impression when I heard these things were disgruntled parents, so probably wishful thinking on his (the person whom I spoke too) part.

Was a member of a coaching staff that won a state title several years ago & not 30 minutes after the championship game, I was having a sidebar conversation with 2 sets of parents that were upset because their kid didn't get into the game as much as they would have liked. :ohbrother:

Does Harp go after any open jobs after the season. Is there any around that area he would want or would try to go for? Or is he content on just being an assistant to stay around the game?

I was told a couple of weeks ago that there was going to be a big announcement about the football program in about 4 weeks, so looks like this is a couple weeks ahead of time. My contacts didn't seem to know what the announcement was going to be, but this wasn't the speculation. Harp to Anderson can only help and be a big shot in the arm. I have also been hearing rumors about some top up and coming younger players relocating...maybe now with this news those rumors might go away.

3 years ago Peach coached Anderson to the semifinals. 2 years ago, he had them in the region final. 5 years ago, Anderson played for a state title. Why would kids relocate?

I don't have a dog in the fight, so personally I don't know. I always hear things of course from parents and players, but what's fact, what's fiction, what's just hurt feelings, what's personality conflicts between parties...all that I don't know. What I do know is that AC lost 4-5 good players this past season to transfers, and I have heard several names of younger players moving on next year. Now IF that happens remains to be seen, and as I said with Coach Harp joining the staff that definitely changes things up.

Why? Parents who don't have a growth mindset.

Evidently there is Coach Peach and one assistant in the building. All others are para-pros. Part timers.

 

That is a big load on two people. Harp was ready to GTH out of Tennessee and Coach Peach needed help.

For those of us not in the know, why is Sam Harp such a big deal? From reading previous posts I assume he was the head coach the years Danville was a power house?

Did things at Anderson in the mid 80's that had not been done previously, then moved on to Danville and basically turned them into a perennial powerhouse, winning a bunch of state titles along the way.

He is a good coach. Some would say excellent coach. Not sure when he started at Danville but won SC in 2000, '01, '03. Runner up in '98, '04, '06. Record of 156-49 from '98 to 2012 when he went to Tennessee.
