How does WVU continually have a better team than UK?

Featured Replies

This makes no sense to me at all? Can someone explain how WVU year in and year out is better than UK?

They recruit better players.

Some schools just seem to have a niche that they are good at...WVU traditionally has had football.

21 NFLers currently from WVU

13 for UK

I don't know where most of their recruits are from but the school is located in northern West Virginia close to the Pennsylvania border, I'd guess they recruit Pennsylvania and the northeast fairly well. They do seem to have good teams in most years.

If you want to play in one of the best conferences such as the SEC, you don't play for KY.

I'm not sure what you mean by this? If you play for KY you DO play in one of the best conferences in the SEC. That can't even be argued. If you said if you want to WIN one of the best conferences such as the SEC, you don't play for KY then I would understand your post haha.

Well done!

Sad part is that I'm very much a Kentucky fan but I'm also a realist. Facts are facts. You go to KY to play in the SEC not to win it. Same can be said for Vandy.

You go to Vandy if you'd like to be highly considered for post-secondary education.

We have a bunch of Vandy MBA's at my company. One of our guys with a lot of letters in his title is on the board down there.

I don't believe they do have a better team than Kentucky year in an year out. If they played in the SEC instead of the Big 12 and Big East, that would be obvious.

West Virginia has a football culture at their school. UK doesn't.

WVU has put consistent work in the southeast over the last ten years in recruiting as well. They get better players and they've played in weaker conferences. Easier to build your program when you combine all that.

Plus between Rich Rod and Holgersen they have had two highly regarded offensive coaches. Two innovative guys. What were Joker's strengths? What are Stoops? Stoops recruits big names but it's kind of hit or miss. Is he a great defensive coach? I haven't seen it yet though the D has looked better since he took it over early in the year.
