Russell should be ready to bounce back from last weeks embarassment. Don.t get me wrong. I bleed the maroon & gold but the Russell has got to make some adjustments. Hopefully with the loss. Now for Boyd Co. The players should be ready and take every day serious. Take to heart Defending the "R". Coaches need to adjust and don't be afraid to yank some seniors and start some juniors. Remember Friday night is ALL about winning. This game could get ugly. Depending on the leaders of the team. Put the Russell Jersey on with PRIDE and play with heart.

I have faith in the coaches. They will need what adjustments need to be made and make them. Guys, this loss can be a good thing!! It takes the pressure off them. It brings them back down to earth after the state championship. it lets them know that if the are not focused and do not play to their abilities, they WILL lose. Just like every other F-ball team in the nation. I think they where beginning to think they couldn't be beat, at least not by anyone around here. I hope the people from Mercer, Belfry, Newport, Western, ect, doubt this team. I really hope they do because this team is one of the best in the state. Come playoff time,we'll be right there. After the Boyd loss last year, everyone was saying the same thing they're saying now. We'll be just fine. While I never want to see them lose, this might be the thing they need to prepare them for another run at the ring. I think it's exactly what they needed.

Can the Devils regroup after a tough game against the Tomcats and get clicking on all cylinders.

To get my Friday night football fix, I attended the Boyd vs Pike Co Central game and came away realizing the lions are a young and somewhat inexperienced team. PCC had a very athletic QB but dropped off quickly after that position. As the game progressed, PCC seemed to be getting some momentum and were starting to move the ball well.

 

With the revenge factor from last year's loss and getting back on track after last Saturday night, Russell should have their way with the lions.

I don't know anything about Boyd county this year,but Russell should have little trouble with the lions.They rarely have to give them a second thought,Boyd never could do much with Russell.I guess I should go though,the last 2 times I went to watch Russell play was the last 2 times they lost.At least they'd have something going for them.

 

First of all, if you dont know much about the Lions, then probably not safe to predict the outcome.

 

Second of all, have you been asleep for a few years....Boyd has beaten Russell, and even upset them last year, so to rarely give a second thought:confused:

Upsets do happen, I'd like to see the lions come out and play a good game and win. Not looking for it to happen though, line isn't tough enough and 22 and 7 can't win a game on their own.

I hope to see a much sharper, well focused team for Russell this friday.

Hope to see some changes for Friday night. This game will set up Russell for the start of district play next week. Ivan and company always use these 3 games to get ready for district play and I think the fans will be ready to make another run for it. Would like to see #8 in the back field with #24 and possilbe #10 or #13 at FB. Give the Cordle kid a shot at QB & keep #18 split out. See ya at Ivan McGlone field friday night.:fire: :fire: :fire:

I would agree that we need to find a way to get Jones more carries. I have seen Cordle play in a srimmage although I don't know alot about him. I'm sure he will get his chance at QB in due time. I would not be surprised if Ivan has extra Jerseys on the side line for the two guards to put on and run the power I again. Just a thought. I have a feeling that we will see a steady diet of the "wing T."

 

Let's face it, we had every opportunity in the world on Saturday to win that game. I felt horrible for Sizemore when he jumped on the two point conversion. The ball was coming to him and he would have been wide open. It's Football. Poor Evans had a chance that only comes around once a years. To kick a game winning field goal. Bad snap. He may never get another chance. It's Football. The almost catch in the end Zone by #20. If the ball is 2 inches higher. TD. It's Football. I'm going to stop. I just love this game to much.

 

Regardless Friday is going to be a good night. Those kids will thank Ivan the way they know best. Thats with a win.
