Very interesting, because I would be willing to bet if you ask anyone winning three in row in the SEC would be pretty impressed.

 

Now, if you would have said their 3 wins are against the 3 worst teams in the SEC and that's not that impressive, I would agree. But you can only beat the teams they place in front of you.

I haven't stated "they haven't improved" in this thread, but I am one that think UK fans have swung wildly to the other side (from where they were after the Southern Miss game), and are now actually looking down at teams that are favored / expected to beat them (like this Saturday).

 

They certainly have improved from where they were in the Southern Miss 2nd half, but mostly from the standpoint of execution. They played really poorly at Florida, and at home against New Mexico State, and without question, they have executed better on all three sides in the 4 games since. Unquestionably. So if the statement is they have executed better in all aspects in the last 4 games, from the first 3 games, they 100% have.

 

My issue remains that people are using wins over 3 bad teams (Mississippi State is a solid win, in spite of their record) to now act like they are rolling. They are likely to lose 4 of their last 5 (will certainly be underdogs in 4 of their last 5, so barring an upset this weekend [in spite of the 26 to 7 poll, yes, it would be an upset], they are losing 4 of 5), and then (most) UK fans will be back on the ledge like they were in the infamous "Will UK win a game" thread.

 

So yes, if the issue is improvement from Southern Miss, Florida, and New Mexico State, YES, they have executed much better in the 4 games since (including the Alabama loss).

The Kentucky team I've watched has gotten better every week since they inserted Johnson and Snell into the lineup.

This is the most winnable game out of AP left on the schedule. If they want to pretty much guarantee they go to a bowl they better win this one. Unfortunately I don't think they will. I just do not trust Johnson at QB. He's not a great passer and I sure don't want him running because you can't trust him to not fumble. The defense has definitely improved over the course of the season however they are still inconsistent.

 

I think UK probably ends up losing this one by 3-7 points. However if they can pull out the win I will predict they beat UGA as well and end up with 7 wins for the regular season. If they lose this one like I think they will, they will be AP and drop the rest and finish with another 5 win season.

UK is absolutely improving, the additions of Gran and Hinshaw are showing as well. Bundle that with an SEC East at an all time low and you have UK representing the conference in a bowl.

I know Missouri can win because they're playing UK, but can someone argue the side of Missouri? I have watched very little and I know they have a good offense, but what do they have currently that gives them an advantage over UK? Because on paper I'm just not seeing it.

Both teams' offenses are very similar in terms of efficiency, although Missouri throws it better than does UK. The Mizzou defense, over the course of the season, is much better than UK's. Mizzou is at home.

 

If you're a UK fan looking for why they'll win, and clearly most of you don't need any help in that category, it should be this: UK's poor play the first three weeks, is eerily similar to Mizzou's poor play the last three weeks. Their quality of play in the first 4 weeks, is very, very similar to the stretch of improved play that UK has exhibited these last 4 weeks. So, if you're big on trends, UK is playing much better as compared to their body of work, recently, than is Missouri.

 

I happen to not think UK will be able to score much in this game, which is why I'm confident that Missouri wins by more than a TD.

 

However, if I'm BBN and I'm all about optimism, you can hope that UK can jump on them early, the seeds of doubt creep in for Missouri, the crowd is taken out of the game, and then they (Tigers) don't offer up much fight in the remaining three quarters.

The UK defense has improved a ton in gap responsibility and tackling. Pringle playing more instead of Elam has made a difference up front too. The Offense now has an identity compared to the start of the season. They have a long way to go but this team is much better. Period.

It appears they've moved on from Elam or I'm not watching enough of the games.

UK has started strong in recent seasons but when SEC time rolled around, they faltered. This year they have won some conference games, although I do agree with those who say that the SEC East is at a historically bad level. UK is developing a decent ground game but for it to succeed a serviceable passing attack needs to complement it IMO. Hopefully, the Cats can get a psychological lift from the win last week. I think the Cats are a considerably better team now than they were on 10/27/15.
