Bluto Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Setting: Guy who went to my high school (in the same choir), but we weren't buddies. We were friends on facebook (I pretty much friend everyone). On someone's political post about Trump & puppies, I made a gross comment (shocking, I know) about "well done, or medium rare". Yeah, it was gross. This guy came unglued. Accused me of just about everything under the sun (he's deleted it), and INSISTING that I apologize. He also insisted that I unfriend him instead of him just unfriending me. Here's our IM exchange: Me: "Xxxx, I will do as you asked. Life is short, and you're just not worth it." "That still is NOT an apology......grow a set of balls and step up to admit you are wrong. Otherwise you are a part of the problem not a solution. "Talk about not worth it....... YOU are a horrible person if you can't accept that someone calls you out on something that is truly unconscionable. YOU and Donald Trump would get along JUST FINE." "APOLOGIZE publicly for that comment." At first I was taken aback; now I'm just laughing as I type this! I thought we had left Jr. High 45 years ago. Note: is there something significant in him wanting ME to unfriend HIM, instead of him just doing it? CONUNDRUM: Do I respond, or let it go. The "Bluto" part of me wants to, and I could REALLY get under his skin.
mcpapa Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Facebook and politics. Brings out the worst in people.
Jaysie Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Just move on. Why ratchet up the discourse. Life is short. Be happy. Is that enough cliches? Just my advice.
TheDeuce Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 I say get under his skin, but I'm petty like that.
UKMustangFan Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 This is the point where you tell him to go do something that is anatomically impossible, and be done with it.
HammerTime Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 I'd call him out in a post and tag him. ( I wouldn't really do that, but it would be funny if you did) Someone can't take a joke.

While the "just move on " advice you are receiving is the best course, I FULLY get the part of your brain that wants to keep engaging him.
woodsrider Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 I say get under his skin, but I'm petty like that. This. I know it's childish but who gives a rip. That dude telling me to apologize publicly would decide it for me.
Voice of Reason Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Sorry my attempt at humor so offended you. I will unfriend you as you request and also recommend that you never listen to anything done by Richard Pryor or Lenny Bruce.
TheDeuce Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 This. I know it's childish but who gives a rip. That dude telling me to apologize publicly would decide it for me. Yep. I would clown buddy.
Bluto Posted October 13, 2016 Author Posted October 13, 2016 I feel like I'm back at Delta house, but I'm the pledge being urged on to pull the prank.
Bluto Posted October 13, 2016 Author Posted October 13, 2016 Sorry my attempt at humor so offended you. I will unfriend you as you request and also recommend that you never listen to anything done by Richard Pryor or Lenny Bruce. Or visit a comedy club, especially on "open mic" night.
