Who are some of the best defensive players in the state? Please provide stats if you have them. I tried looking at Max Preps but everyone doesn't submit their stats there.

Dalen Cofer - Bowling Green - SR DE - Started all 7 games (limited due to running clocks)

38 solo tackles and 11 assisted tackles for a total of 49 total tackles

8 solo tackles for a loss and 2 assisted tackles for a loss

3 sacks (20 yards total in lost yardage)

Credited with 2 hurry's.

I would also nominate Jacob Lacey for South Warren, but I have not stats for him.

DT Ray Horton, Belfry

Sr. - LB Kincer Arnett # 4 Mayfield leads all Mayfield defenders with 85 total tackles in just 6 games played.

Lacey has been great but the kid that catches your eye is Jack Wiley for a kid that hasn't played since Jr high he has great instints and he is a hitter. But Lacey is just a freak of a big athlete also you can't go by stats at SW Smith is very stingy on who he give tackles.Stats show half as many tackles as Defensive plays.

Russell's Ryan Stump is a JR DE/OLB who has helped spearhead a defense allowing only 5 ppg and about 130 ypg. I don't have exact stats, but I wouldn't be surprised if he had 20 or more TFL including 5 or 6 sacks through six games. He's been a nightmare to defend 1 on 1 so far.

In the last play of the highlight package below, Ryan tosses aside a 6'6" 300 lb offensive tackle to make the sack.

SR CB Drey Boehm has been another important cog in Russell's defensive machine this year. He's rarely been targeted this season, but still recorded an INT in each of Russell's first 5 games.

Agree, and I would also interject that Trevon Faulkner is well on his way to being a standout in Mercer's backfield!
