October 3, 201610 yr Quick had PLENTY of time to make the guy miss (or put his shoulder down and run through him)... He just ran out of bounds. The loss isn't on him, but he let his team down in a critical moment. Unfortunately that's not the first time it's happened with him.
October 3, 201610 yr Special team kickoff return gave them life, can't let that happen. This got the team and fans fired up and the momentum for Clemson. Momentum is huge in close football games as everyone knows.
October 3, 201610 yr I think putting this loss on Quick is unfair and perhaps downright crazy. Just my opinion.
October 3, 201610 yr This is all you need to see on the Quick play. He has the ball at this point. Runs out of bounds.
October 3, 201610 yr Why would you do that, Deuce? I was just getting started on a new week and had put it out of my mind.
October 3, 201610 yr It might not be all on Quick, but he sure doesn't get a pass. Lots of things added up to a loss, but when the game really had an opportunity to be had, he whiffed. It is what it is.

It is what it is. Exactly. This is my whole point. That one play isn't the reason we lost, but he's not getting off the hook.

October 3, 201610 yr I honestly thought he was going to score. Can't ask for a better situation than be one-on-one with a handful of yards to gain.
October 3, 201610 yr Got home a couple hours ago, finally settled back in. I'm not going to read the whole thread because I can only imagine the foolishness, plus I've already been tipped off to it, so why bother. First, hats off to the Clemson faithful. I had heard for two years how awesome a group they were and they did not disappoint. I had dozens of interactions with them before, during, and after the game and literally every one of them was positive, inviting, complimentary and welcoming. They are PROFESSIONALS at tailgating, easily the best I've seen in my trips around the country for CFB, and they are the definition of southern hospitality. The atmosphere in the stadium was awesome! They definitely drag out that entrance, but it was cool to be able see it in person, I like being able to experience those traditions at other schools. Place was VERY loud at times, but they manufacture a lot of noise, which is smart on their part. To the game... There are many excuses that could be made after watching it on DVR, but the bottom line is Louisville made too many mistakes on the road at a Top 5 opponent to win the game. The 2nd Quarter killed them. Nine penalties for 100 yards, three turnovers and gave up 28 points all in one quarter. Clemson got in a rhythm offensively and had Louisville's offense on it's heels. Clemson made the plays they had to in the 2nd quarter and that was the difference. I told my buddy at the half that we were going to find out what kind of team we really had, and man I couldn't be more proud of how they responded to the adversity of the 1st Half. They could have easily folded and gotten blown out but they didn't. They fought back, took the lead, and honestly should have won the game. But Clemson is Top 5 for a reason, and they made the plays they had to to secure the victory. Losing sucks, but overall I can't be too upset about this loss. The Cards will win out and be looking for some help, but they still have a shot at the Playoffs. Will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Thanks to my homies @LRCW and @MentschTrachtGottLact for checking on me after the game, @PurplePride92 for keeping me level headed during the game, and @gametime for the plug on the breakfast spot this morning. Love you guys. Glad you got to attend. My cousin's son attends Clemson and they posted some pictures from Gameday and the game itself. Everyone says it is a blast.
October 3, 201610 yr In reflecting back on the game a couple days removed now, both teams benefited from the miscues of the other team that I felt it cancelled out itself. Obviously if you want to pull the (road) upset, you can't have those miscues. Someone needs to alert the Clemson coaching staff that they need to cover the flat. Felt like 90% of the completions were a simple toss into the flat. Maybe that was by design, but UL exploited it... well, besides Quick Petrino is a gem in watching him orchestrate an offense. I left more impressed with UL than impressed by Clemson. This felt like last year's game between Clemson and Notre Dame. Edited October 3, 201610 yr by bugatti
October 3, 201610 yr He really probably should have scored. Quick doesn't have the ball yet in this picture. Like I said, he was close to the side line when he caught the pass. His momentum was taking him to the side line and not down field so it would have been hard to run anyone over. When he caught the pass, the DB was on him like bark on a tree. If Quick has the ball in the picture he scores easily. Thanks for the pic.

He loves getting people out in space on the backside flats.
