October 3, 201610 yr I thought you told us that Death Valley doesn't win or lose ball games??? :lol2: I'm just kidding PP! :thumb: Death Valley definitely had a say in the Quick play after seeing the field marker guy cheering. If you ain't cheating you ain't trying!!!!
October 3, 201610 yr Absolutely. The fact that he went out of bounds at all was just dumb. They had a timeout, go for the kill. If he thinks he has a first down and goes out of bounds he stops the clock and saves the timeout.
October 3, 201610 yr Absolutely. The fact that he went out of bounds at all was just dumb. They had a timeout, go for the kill. If he stays in bounds and the defender makes a great open field tackle he'd be called dumb for not going out of bounds and getting the first.
October 3, 201610 yr There was still :35 left when he went out. If he stays in bounds, gets the first but not the touch down, they wouldn't have to use a time out.
October 3, 201610 yr If he stays in bounds and the defender makes a great open field tackle he'd be called dumb for not going out of bounds and getting the first. No he wouldn't. He gets the first then they have 1st and goal inside the 2. With Lamar no way UofL doesn't win.

Clock starts on the refs whistle once the team gets lined up. They either would have spiked the ball to stop the clock, ran a play with the clock running or called a timeout.
October 3, 201610 yr Clock starts on the refs whistle once the team gets lined up. They either would have spiked the ball to stop the clock, ran a play with the clock running or called a timeout. I think they would have worked the clock down a few seconds, not wasted a down. Anyways, we are going in circles with this.
October 3, 201610 yr No he wouldn't. He gets the first then they have 1st and goal inside the 2. With Lamar no way UofL doesn't win. Yeah if he gets the first. There's no guarantee he gets the first if he stays in bounds. Not sure why everyone else can speculate what happens except for me. :lol2: There is no guarantee he scores or gets the first down if he stays in bounds. Just like there is no guarantee he gets the first down if the first down marker is in the right place. The first down marker not being in the right place appears to be one of the reasons he wasn't aware of where he was on the field. For me that's a problem.

What is guaranteed is not getting the first down if you go out bounds too early. I'll take my chances with a receiver one on one with a 6-8 yard cushion, every single time.

I will as well but my point is that him doing what we all think he should have done doesn't mean he 1.) gets the first down or 2.) scores. I'm not going to beat up on Quick over a decision he had a split second to make when he wasn't given a fair chance to make a smarter decision.
October 3, 201610 yr I would blame the entire kickoff coverage team more than Quick. Everyone can say he didn't fight for it or whatever but it's a whole new world when you're on the field playing in front of 82,000 people. He literally had a split second to decide what to do.

Well, literally he had 3 seconds. He caught the ball at :37 mark and stepped out at :34 mark.
October 3, 201610 yr And besides, if Louisville had a kicker, there wouldn't even be a discussion. Seriously can't remember. What was the issue with the kicker?
