Did you notice the wide open receiver in the end zone? How about the one on the hash marks? Water under the bridge, time for me to move on.

The play was designed to go to the flats, it was executed perfectly until Quick decided to run out of bounds.

Quick doesn't have the ball yet in this picture. Like I said, he was close to the side line when he caught the pass. His momentum was taking him to the side line and not down field so it would have been hard to run anyone over. When he caught the pass, the DB was on him like bark on a tree. If Quick has the ball in the picture he scores easily. Thanks for the pic.

Play starts at the 0:54 mark... You must have been watching a different game.

Saw that.

It's irrelevant if Quick lowers his shoulder and/or makes a guy miss instead of running directly out of bounds.

Agreed but it makes sense why he didn't know if he had a first down.

Field awareness. That's on him.

Discussed this with my son yesterday, and since he was a receiver I was really interested in his thoughts. He absolutely has no issue with Quick's decision. As spectators both at the game and via television, we have a MUCH better vantage than the receiver in action on the field, on the opposite side of the downs markers. Heck, in person at a game, I'm often confused when on the opposite side of the field, because perspective gets distorted for me. And of course, if only there could be a yellow line in real life. :lol2:

Not if the field marker guy isn't doing his job fairly. Doesn't help him do his job efficiently. If the field marker is in the right place and visible he gets the first down and gets out if bounds to stop the clock easily.

Pure speculation.

Getting out of bounds is irrelevant because I'm pretty sure UofL still had one time out.

Correct. There was no reason whether he thought he had the 1st or not, for him not to try and get to the end zone.

I thought you told us that Death Valley doesn't win or lose ball games??? :lol2:

I'm just kidding PP! :thumb:

Pure speculation.

Just like it is speculation that if he cuts it back inside he scores or gets a first down.

Absolutely. The fact that he went out of bounds at all was just dumb. They had a timeout, go for the kill.
