Tulsa Police Shooting Questioned

Featured Replies

Do we agree that the male officer didn't think the victim was reaching for a weapon?

If the guy reached in the car it's on him. I don't care if he had a gun or not.

Always look forward to logging on BGP and finding Clyde's posts about officer involved shootings. Must be like a little boy on Christmas morning to read about one on the CNN ticker and rush to the laptop to make a post.

Thanks again.

And I look forward to so many misinformed members doing their best to immediately defend what could possibly be another bad shoot by a cop. This is now sickening..the shootings, some are clearly legit and some are clearly not. I pray that none of us are put into a situation where maybe we misunderstand the directives of an officer and make slightly a wrong move. In my opinion, if the belief that Mr. Crutcher reached into the vehicle for a weapon, why were the officers not immediately moving into a defensive position while firing their weapons? We just lost an officer here in Maryville Tennessee to a cop killer, and I see the hurt it does to a family and community. But we can't ignore the hurt of the victims family and community of excessive force cops killing people either. Now saying that is not disrespecting the badge itself, but the individual behind the badge.

Correct. Stirring the pot does not fit my narrative. I wait usually wait until the investigation is complete before speculating on what video minus audio shows.

If that's the case, then you should not be commenting in this message board topic until the investigation is over. You should know that you're going to everyone's pre-judgement comment, and to spark off on the ones you disagree with kind of defeats your narrative. No hard feelings, I'm just saying.

Whether a gun was found or not is irrelevant to me , he reached inside the car to get something obviously ignoring the commands of a officer who had his weapon drawn . Again for the trillionth time , follow the commands of the officer and 99.9 % of the time there wont be an obituary . Why didnt he stop when the officers were stating stop ( I'm sure they were not being silent hoping to shot someone)

I can't tell from video myself, so how do we know he actually reached inside the car? Please let me know where, so I can see that one also.

Agreed but that wasn't my question.

Either the male officer didn't think he was reaching or he fired a taser at a guy he thought was reaching for a gun.

It didn't look like he reached into the car to me and even if he was reaching into the car it didn't look like he was reaching hard enough or fast enough to be a threat to the police. Of course I'm a black dude with no police training so I'm sure their actions were acceptable.

We live in a country where there is more outrage over a backup QB kneeling during the anthem than an unarmed black man being shot by the police and a terrorist can attempt to kill the police and he is still alive.

No way to tell if he was or wasn't from the video. Let's say he was, why would it matter how fast he was reaching? if he has a gun he is 100% a threat.

He approached with the taser out.

True. He did "look like a bad dude"........

True. He did "look like a bad dude"........

from that height, they all do.

Maybe they should have waited to see if he pulled a gun first. That way after he shot one of the officers we would have to second guess what the officers did. I mean, it's really just a suggestion when an officer with a gun drawn tells you not to move. No reason to think a guy not following orders on that situation has any ill intent.

PP - does it bother you it appears he obviously was ignoring the officers request to stop , and kept walking towards that car while they were ( more than likely ) saying " Stop " ? No way I expect an officer to not use whatever force necessary to protect them selves from a person not following instruction. We must respect the police in following the most simple request or we wont have an orderly society .

True. May as well kill him before he presents himself as a true threat. I mean if a terrorist can attempt to kill cops and manage to make it out alive may as well target all darker skinned folks. Better safe than sorry. Eliminate the threat.

Yes it bothers me he didn't listen to the cops even though we don't have any audio of their conversations to know what was being said between him and the cops.

What happened to tasers? This seems like the perfect situation for a taser.
