Old plans were like

 

$60 for the family talk 750 minutes

$9.99 each line + $30 for data plan =$39.99

$25-$30 for unlimited texting

 

Pay $199 for iPhone 7

 

New plans

 

$60for unlimited talk, text, and 6GB data and no overage charges

 

$20 for each line + cost of installment ($21.67 for iPhone 7 32GB)

 

Pay $39 up front for iPhone 7.

 

So the MRC for a 2 line account.

 

Old plan = $155 a month ($60 plan + + $25 texting + 2 $30 data plans + 9.99 for second line) plus tax

 

Out of pocket $400 for 2 new phones

 

New plan = $143.34 a month ($60 plan + $20ea for 2 lines + 2 $21.67 installments) plus tax

 

Out of pocket $78 for 2 phones

This might be old news to you, but you might try getting your new one at an Apple store (one in Evansville, right?). From my understanding you are just bound through them for the price of your phone--max 24 months--, but you can switch from VZ to AT&T (or vice versa) at anytime w/out penalty.

The old unlimited plans are good but the bills are quite high. Depending on your actual usuage (I say actual because some people just assume they use more than they do) you're probably better off on a shared data plan.

 

When I meet customers with unlimited I never try and force them off the plan or anything like that. I lay out their options based on data usage and help them decide what's best. Pay more for data you don't use or save, get enough data, and new phones. Each situation is different.

 

 

We have the newer unlimited plans if you have Directv as well.

 

Unfortunately, the one thing I always tell customers who are on the old plans, ATT will never force you to switch plans but the new ways to upgrade are not built around those plans so it's not gonna work out in your favor.

I'm not married to my unlimited plan but it never made sense in the past to ditch it. I normally don't use a ton of data but there are times I do. back in July I used almost 20GB. I was streaming the CrossFit games on my phone while working. Basically 3 days of several hours of streaming. That definitely isn't the norm though. I will have to research our real usage and see what makes sense.

So I was going to upgrade my son's phone for him for his birthday, which is what he wanted. After a phone call to Verizon, I ended up upgrading everyone's phones on our plan. Verizon is offering a free upgrade if you trade in your old iPhone.

 

I upgraded to iPhone7 (price $650) and traded in my iPhone6 (trade in credit $650) this week.

 

In order to facilitate that, here is how it worked out. They take the cost of the new phone and add it to your bill in 24 monthly installments. Then they credit your bill for 24 months for the trade in credit. The two should cancel themselves out.

 

I had to pay $45 sales tax (WV)

 

Since I opted for the 128gb, my bill will be charged $31 and change each month and I will get a $27 and change credit, leaving me with a $4 increase for getting a new 128gb iPhone 7. My old phone was 16gb and I don't know what to do with all the new storage, lol.

I purchased the new iPhone over the weekend, still not sure how I feel about it. It's definitely growing on me though. I did have the 6 and was had it for about 21-22 months. It finally had got to where it would not charge and last Friday it went dead for what I feared was the last time. Get it into the ATT store on Saturday and come to find out excess pocket lint had accumulated in my charging port and aside from a minor crack in the bottom corner that was the only thing wrong. If I was smart I would have just left the store but after finding out they had some of the new 7's in stock I left with a new iPhone 7 and iPad mini. At first I preferred the feel to the 6 much better as I felt the 7 was a lot heavier. Now that I am getting more used to it this doesn't bother me as bad.

 

The new home button takes some getting used to, as does the new iOS. But its definitely growing on me. How well does everyone else enjoy theirs?

I like it but after recently upgrading from and IPad Air 1 to and IPad Pro 9.7" which was a huge jump performance, sound (4 speakers are loud compared to IPad Air). The jump from a 6 plus to a 7 plus wasn't that significant. I had already updated to IOS 10, for me getting used to force touch is an adjustment, took awhile to figure out how to press to delete or move apps. I like the new home button, also now have to get used to a different hard reset (sleep/wake button at same time as volume down).

What is the purpose of a hard reset?

Hard reset for when your phone gets locked up or unresponsive. It doesn't happen very often.

For anyone that just got their new IPhone's, shop around to sell your old IPhone.

I almost traded my IPhone 6 Plus 128 GB in at Apple for $220 or Best Buy for $276, but listed it on Craigslist and sold it for $350 in less than a day.

Picked up mine last night. So far, I love it. It's taking some getting used to (I haven't had an iPhone since the original version), but really happy with it so far.

I ordered my 7 Plus 128 gb 2 weeks ago and it isn't supposed to be here until the first week of November. My 6 has shot the dust and at this point I have to charge it to full at least twice a day. It sometimes dies at like 35% and won't come back on no matter how many times I try to hard reset it. Then I plug it in and it automatically restarts and turns back on to like 40%. It is so annoying. I heard the battery was great on the 7 plus and that's why I decided to get the 7 plus to begin with. Can someone who has the 7 plus already comment on the battery life?
