They have played three 6 A programs to within 10 points and won one of those games. Never been really out of any of them. I would say they are looking fine for a deep run in the playoffs.

 

Well said, these 1st 3 games will make them better in the long run. I'm sure if they go 10-5 with a victory in game 15 no one would complain.

They will be fine. Not going to use the excuse that it was a 6A school they lost to. That I think means nothing because in years past they beat 6A schools. They are just a few players away and a few mistakes to correct from making something of this season. By no means is this season a wash because its still early.

First of all my apologies for the update thread going silent. My battery died on me as I was typing that my battery was dying. Lol

 

I was really impressed with the way the Birds played even in the loss, The defense was very aggressive and that will bode well as they get deeper into their schedule. Offensively there was nobody in SC's secondary who could keep Nick Venaman in front of them. He must've had 4 TD receptions. Pulsfort and Murray ran hard but couldn't break anything long.

 

I think this game only helps the Birds as they fine tune some things and continue to get better. They just need to work on improving one game at a time.

The kid was tossed after making contact with the ref. I didn't see it though.

One other thing I will add, the blatant holding that was going on during the late drives by SC was astonishing. Right in front of the back judge as well. I mean if I'm 30 yards away standing at the fence in the end zone and can see them why can't a guy 5 yards away? We focused on the line for 5 plays and 3 of them were blatant holds with no whistles I get it,you could probably call it every down but some were just ridiculous.

 

In fact I dont remember more than 2-3 flags thrown all night on either team.

It has always beem bad for the past few years.

They only have a couple returning starters, its a whole new group. Bowden, Taylor and Rust are the only returning starters I believe.

I would say they are average. Scott County has hung 40 plus on everyone they have played so far, Cooper has accomplished the same thing. That puts them as average in my book.

Does Huddleston get any playing time?

The poor choices in behavior by #25 and #14 did not appear to be handled by the SC coaches. Surprised that a coach didn't admonish. Instead #25 went back into the game.

 

On the other hand - #27? After the game came over to a Birds lineman #65 Trent Johnson to shake his hand and said that he had a tough time getting past Trent. That's was a nice gesture and sign of sportsmanship. Maybe #27 could teach a few things about it to his teammates.

I submit that Scott County might be flying "under the radar" a bit in 6A this season. Who will emerge from the pack of SK, Lafayette, McCracken, Scott County, Central Hardin, Ryle to challenge the Louisville schools?
