Congratulations to CovCath. Truly happy for you. Beating a team like Sycamore is a good resume builder for the season and will certainly give your boys some much needed experience.

Oak Hills and Sycamore are now a combined 0-4 on the season. Comparing them to Lou. St. Xavier is a bit of an insult to the Tigers, IMO.

The comparison might be a knock on sycamore. X has been unimpressive this year.

You would have thought Covcath was playing a nationally ranked Moeller.

Heck of a win for the boys in blue but pump the brakes on Sycamore, I agree. A very solid Cincy program.

Calpreps.com does a very good job ranking teams across the nation. They actually have Cov Cath ranked higher than Sycamore. Here is where Sycamore falls among Kentucky schools in their rankings:

For those who know Ohio schools, Sycamore is ranked about the same as Lebanon, Indian Hill, Princeton, Lakota East, Hamilton.

In Kentucky, statewide Sycamore would fall here (this is in order of ranking on calpreps.com):

North Hardin

Cooper

Covington Catholic

Mayfield

McCracken County

Ballard

SYCAMORE

Pleasure Ridge Park

Central Hardin

Corbin

Pulaski County

One other comment, maybe Coach Wirth knew what he was doing when he made out this schedule. It looks like he chose well in the Ohio competition - challenging opponents that the Colonels are capable of beating.

Of course CalPreps is only 3 games into the season (2 in Ohio) and remains heavily influenced by last season's results. It is interesting to note that Sycamore took LaSalle to OT last week. LaSalle would rank 3rd in Kentucky per the current CalPreps rankings. Sycamore passes the eye test, they are a big fast team that would do well very well in Kentucky.

Trinity

Belfry

LaSalle

Simon Kenton

Bowling Green

Scott County

CovCath sound guys stepping up their game last night with the Dropkick Murphy's. Big step up from Cotton Eyed Joe...

CCH JV won 30-7.

Coldiron had 2 TD receptions. Schuh also had 2 TDs.

Let's not give Wirth credit for the schedule that this team was handed. He had Cincy St X on it last year for the Colonels. Coach Eviston replaced them with Oak Hills which was a much better game. Covcath was a huge underdog last night and pulled out the win. The credit goes to Coach Eviston, his staff, and those boys for getting the job done against a really good fball team.

Has absolutely nothing to do with that-this was a team that embarrassed them last year, and returned virtually everyone. This is about progress in the 2nd year under a new coach, and these kids should be happy.

Great win for Cov Cath. After watching the Ryle game I knew they were no slouches. These past two weeks confirm that. This is the year they take down Highlands. You heard it here first.

Powerful post for you first one. Predicting a win over someone who has owned Covcath. Please explain why you think that? Great win though for sure!

Is this the year?

I've seen both teams play and Cov Cath has a much better O and D line, quarterback and running back.

Hasn't Covcath's defense given up over 30pts in all 3 games? So much for the d-line there. But I think Highlands 2 rb's make there rb's better.
