Beechwood 35 Dixie Heights 9

Not sure what is wrong with Dixie but they started just as bad last year losing 35-0 and 35-3 and then went on win the district so maybe time to hit the panic button or maybe time to do what they did last year.

With all due respect APNW, losing to CovCath and Highlands by those margins can be explained. Losing to a 1A power (and a very good one), is a little tougher to swallow I'd think.

With all due respect that 1A power (who is a good one) has what record in its last 10 games with CovCath?

Don't know -- probably similar to the last 10 games between CCH and NCC. However, both of those things are apropos not at all to this conversation. CovCath has struggled with Beechwood, you're right, but the most loyal of Beechie fans will tell you they didn't spend a lot of those evenings / afternoons beating the Blue Colonels by 26.

I'd expect more of you in a conversation then an end around. Oh well, that Belfry game must still have you sideways.

Congratulations Tigers! Congratulations Coaches! Nice way to begin the year and a new era. Keep working hard. It's paying off!

Lets see Dixie losing badly to Highlands and CovCath and Dixie losing badly to Highlands and Beechwood............lets do the math equation ......I don't see much difference since the Highlands would cancel each other out and that leaves Beechwood (the winner of the majority of the games versus CovCath and the more recent state champion of the two) and CovCath.

Bottom line is Dixie shouldn't be losing badly to either but I will contend there is not more shame in losing to Beechwood than CovCath.

Okay, we'll agree to disagree.:thumb:

Either way, Dixie has a lot of work to do to get the wheels back on so that they can make another run within the district once those games start. This season couldn't have gotten off to much worse of a start for them.

Beechwood got exactly what they needed tonight -- good for them. :thumb:

Congrats to Beechwood on the game ! Dixie , there's 4Qters to play ! Not one ! I can not figure this team out . So much talent and experience on the field , But I'll take a Quote from SM /32 , they just don't get it yet ! I'll say one thing , Spritzky will right the ship and there's alot of work to be done ! Sr's you have 8 games left ! :thumb: Anything past that is a plus for you ! Make the most of it !!!

Dixie was flat out aweful again tonight. The offense just looks out of sync. The line blocked a little better this week, but they're still not finishing their blocks. Bricking is still having trouble hitting the open receiver. He also needs to quit staring down the receiver he's throwing too. If I were a safety, I'd sit back and lick my chops, because his eyes will lead me to the intended receiver every time. Moloney seems to be a step slow hitting the holes when they're there. He did have a couple nice runs tonight. IMO, they need to get the ball into #7 and #15 hands a little more often. Those two are very quick and fast. Last week when filling in for when Moloney was injured, #7 looked pretty good at the tailback position. He seems quicker and faster, and he's more explosive going through the hole. I think these two can definitely make some things happen.

Defensively, they're still soft. There were so many times when they could've lit someone up, and they didn't. The line gets shoved back 5 yards 9 times out of 10. And the DBs are a step too slow. Also, the safety plays too close to the line of scrimmage basically leaving the DBs in one-on-one coverage, and it cost them a few times tonight. Again, some things need changed.

I wouldn't write them off yet. It's still early, and Dixie is notorious for starting slow. However, a lot of things need work. Hopefully Spritzky pulling the starters in the 3rd was a wakeup call for them. Someone on this team has to step up and be a leader.

Beechwood played a very solid game. There's no question they'll compete for that championship this year. The o-line is good sized and physical. Bankamper (sp??) is a load at running back. He's got good speed and size, and he likes to play physical. He doesn't shy away from anyone. The FB is also very solid. He did a great job blocking tonight. Elliot is a good qb. He has a good arm, and he puts the ball right where it needs to be. He also has good speed. Defensively they were solid, but it was hard to get a good grasp as Dixie's offense was so poor tonight.

What was the deal at the end of the half? Dixie got into field goal position with 3.0 seconds remaining after calling a timeout. After the timeout was granted by the ref, the side judge said the half was over. Earlier, there was a clock malfunction, but all appeared to be fixed. Based on Spritzky's and Sorrell's reaction, Dixie's sideline was never told that the scoreboard clock was incorrect as they argued for a few minutes after Beechwood cleared the field and went to the locker room. I've also never seen so many missed holding penalties. Stallkamp was held every time he got by the tackle, but it was only called once. Granted, this didn't cost them the game, but it would've definitely effected 2 of the touchdown passes thrown.

Does this mean Simon Kenton is the favorite to win the district?

Nice win by Beachwood, NCC will be a great game. They had a nice win over Newport tonight.

Nice win for the Tigers, and a HUGE congrats to Coach Rash on his first win as the new BW head coach. I hate that I had to miss this game tonight.:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

You see that in most high school qbs. Beechwood's qb did the exact same thing, looking only to the one side of the field that the play was called for. The defensive coordinator has to teach to defend that, and you don't see that too often. It's part of the learning experience for young qb's.

For those who stayed until the end..... a great tribute to Coach Rash. The game ball was given to him on the field and then again in the locker room. A true tribute to a man of class. The torch has been passed to a very worthy coach. The Tigers are ready to PLAY.:ylsuper:

Why? Because they beat a rebuilding Lloyd squad last week? SK will be a force in 4A in No. Ky., but labelling them favorites, it's way too early for that based on 1 or 2 non-district games. How do you think they would have fared vs. Highlands, Beechwood, NCC, or CovCath? You can't say, SK doesn't play them. It's way too early for that prediction!
