For those who stayed until the end..... a great tribute to Coach Rash. The game ball was given to him on the field and then again in the locker room. A true tribute to a man of class. The torch has been passed to a very worthy coach. The Tigers are ready to PLAY.:ylsuper:
Congrats to Coach Rash. His team did him proud.

Nice job.:thumb: He truley deserves that tribute. Knowing him personally, and with how much he has impacted my family I want to say congrats to him, and many more wins to come...and hopefully a state championship (we expect that;) :D ). Way to go Coach Rash.

What was the deal at the end of the half? Dixie got into field goal position with 3.0 seconds remaining after calling a timeout. After the timeout was granted by the ref, the side judge said the half was over. Earlier, there was a clock malfunction, but all appeared to be fixed. Based on Spritzky's and Sorrell's reaction, Dixie's sideline was never told that the scoreboard clock was incorrect as they argued for a few minutes after Beechwood cleared the field and went to the locker room. I've also never seen so many missed holding penalties. Stallkamp was held every time he got by the tackle, but it was only called once. Granted, this didn't cost them the game, but it would've definitely effected 2 of the touchdown passes thrown.

Just another example of it not being your night. Dixie should have been able to kick a short field goal, only being down 21-10 at half and getting the 3rd qtr kickoff, with momemtum, and it just went against them. Beechwood played well and deserved to win. Once again, Dixie can't stop the run, and that's been a major problem for them in the past few years. Beechwood's qb was also having the "lock onto one receiver" night, but he'll only get better, and Dixie never took advantage of that. Beechwood will have alot to say come playoff time. Dixie typically starts of slow but will rebound now that they get to practice on a real field, with lines and hashmarks, not a city park. It was an honor to play Beechwood, considering their storied past. Dixie has no shame in losing to a single A school. Beechwood could beat most 4A teams. As for the Stallkamp holding non-penalties, it's subjective, but you don't get that many fans in an uproar for nothing. Thanks to Beechwood for the hospitality!

We need to stick to the issues not each other.

free thinking, the playoff format changed this year but NCC and Beechwood will play twice.

I thought the playoff format changed next year not this year. I hate the KHSAA. They should have left it the way it was. They have no clue what their doing at all. Sounds familar with another person in charge.

Why? Because they beat a rebuilding Lloyd squad last week? SK will be a force in 4A in No. Ky., but labelling them favorites, it's way too early for that based on 1 or 2 non-district games. How do you think they would have fared vs. Highlands, Beechwood, NCC, or CovCath? You can't say, SK doesn't play them. It's way too early for that prediction!

How can be to early for a prediction? Simon Kenton is good yes, but so is Campbell.

It changes this year and then again next year with more classes.

I think we need to see how things go before we decide the KHSAA is doing the wrong thing. Remember, the KY Coaches Association pushed for the changes (next year).

Now we need to stick to the game thread.

I agree. All I was stating was it was too early for 92Bird to claim SK as the early favorite for the 4A title based on non-district games. Campbell Co. is obviously in the mix. They have 2 impressive victories so far!

Back to the Beechwood/Dixie game, that Bankemper kid is a workhorse and their running game has not missed a beat because of graduation. I was very impressed with his ability to spin off tackles. You can't arm tackle him! Dixie has a problem in that department. #4's mechanics are impeckable for a jr.

Nice win for the Beechies. About what i predicted the score to be.

(B-Wood 35 Dixie 14)

Why is Dixie never ready to compete early in the season? Do the coaches not prepare them?

I predicted Bankemper would go over 20 carries and close to 150 yrds on the ground with a couple of TD's. I look for Rash to continue riding this Horse and the WR... that caught 3 td's..... that is huge. If they can do this all year they will get NCC ...

I know they did not pass a lot but how did the Tigers pass offense look? It was their downfall last season.

Elliot throws a nice ball, and their recievers have decent size. It's hard to really tell after only one game, but I'd say it has improved since last year.

You see that in most high school qbs. Beechwood's qb did the exact same thing, looking only to the one side of the field that the play was called for. The defensive coordinator has to teach to defend that, and you don't see that too often. It's part of the learning experience for young qb's.

He did it last year too. I was hoping to see an improvement there this year. Beechwood's qb checked off his main receiver a lot more than Bricking did, and he threw half as many passes. I still say the key on offense is to get #7 and #15 more touches. Lucas (#7) has proven that he can out run defenders and make them miss. I have full confidence in Spritzky to right the ship though, so I'm not concerned, yet. I do wish that he'd receive the openning kickoff when playing away instead of deferring. Go out there and make a statement on your first drive.

Dixie fans, your team is still all right. Once you get to the 4A schedule you'll be fine.

Boy that sounds like a back-handed compliment.
