August 30, 201610 yr Did it say that he didn't want to go to Houston? Perhaps they didn't have any/enough interest in him. No, didn't hear Houston mentioned but you could be correct.
August 31, 201610 yr Red Sox, Rays, Yankees, Blue Jays, Diamondbacks, Marlins, A’s, or Twins were his list of No-Trade Teams. He had the opportunity to update that list in the winter and didn't. How many teams can you have on your no-trade list and can you change it more than once a year? There was rumors of Jay going to Baltimore at one point last year, thought that would have been a good landing point for him as far as a small market team. Surprised the Mets wouldn't have been on the list and the Yankees were

There was rumors of Jay going to Baltimore at one point last year, thought that would have been a good landing point for him as far as a small market team. Surprised the Mets wouldn't have been on the list and the Yankees were I think that all depends on the contract and the terms but I think at the most it is once a year. Pretty sure it can vary for how many I know some guys have had at least 15.
September 21, 20169 yr Bruce was pinch hit for in the 8th inning of last night's 5-4 loss to the Braves. Bruce was the potential tying run and was pinch hit for by .159 hitting Eric Campbell. Bruce is hitting .077 with 1 RBI in his last 11 games and .176 with 4 homeruns and 11 RBIs in the 40 games since being traded.
September 21, 20169 yr Reds made the right decision. Have seen lots of speculation that the Mets are going to exercise the buyout and use the $$ they save towards resigning Cespedes instead. Can't blame them.

September 22, 20169 yr I like Jay Bruce. Honestly, I wish he were still with the Reds. But, when he goes into a funk, and really starts pressing, he's a snowball rolling down hill. I just can't imagine the pressure that he's applied to himself (in addition to the enormous amount normally associated with playing in NY to begin with.) I'm really not surprised he's had the results he's had so far since the trade.
September 22, 20169 yr Maybe he'll come back to Cincinnati for a discount. (Somebody had to say it. )
September 23, 20169 yr Reds made the right decision. Have seen lots of speculation that the Mets are going to exercise the buyout and use the $$ they save towards resigning Cespedes instead. Can't blame them. Interesting decision. They can either A - exercise the option and pay Bruce $13M for 2017 and either play him OR try to trade him to anyone but Red Sox, Rays, Yankees, Blue Jays, Diamondbacks, Marlins, A’s, or Twins (although wonder if already being traded to Mets would impact that clause?) OR B - pay him $1M to go away and he becomes an unrestricted free agent. If they go with B, what is the market for Bruce in the offseason? I'd guess $7-9M base with significant incentives that would take him above $10. Is that reasonable? His streakiness is the killer. When he rakes, he rakes hard & with power for a good stretch. When he scuffles, he scuffles hard & with a ton of Ks for a longer stretch. Mets have only seen the scuffling and its hard to convince yourself that if you bring him back in 2017 you'll get "back of the baseball card" performance (even if you know it logically).
September 23, 20169 yr I think his ask is somewhere in the 5 year $75M range. $15M a season for 30 HRs and nearly 100 RBI isn't unreasonable at all IMO.
