September 23, 20169 yr I think his ask is somewhere in the 5 year $75M range. $15M a season for 30 HRs and nearly 100 RBI isn't unreasonable at all IMO. I think this slump to end the year is really going to hurt him.

(Somebody had to say it. ) I'd pay him $5M a year for a 3 yr. deal along with a ton of incentives (HRs, BABIP metrics, K reduction, etc.) that would take him up to $10M if he hit career marks in all of the categories and pay around $7M if he put up "back of his baseball card" stats. Suspect someone else will pay him a much higher base.
September 23, 20169 yr Reds made the right decision. Have seen lots of speculation that the Mets are going to exercise the buyout and use the $$ they save towards resigning Cespedes instead. Can't blame them. It was finally time for the Reds to screw a team over, instead of being screwed.
September 25, 20169 yr Author Has only started once in the last 5 games. This is not another designed "mental break" for Jay Bruce. The Mets' slumping deadline pickup has been benched by Terry Collins for Wednesday's series finale against the Braves. After striking out as a pinch-hitter in the ninth of Wednesday’s 4-3 loss, Bruce is batting just .175 — including a current 3-for-39 slide — with four homers, 40 strikeouts and a paltry .543 OPS in 41 games since the Mets acquired him from Cincinnati hours before the Aug. 1 non-waivers trade deadline. "No reaction, I'm not playing right now," Bruce said before the game. "(Collins) said 'just be ready.' I respect the manager's decision. "It's difficult, for sure. Frustrating. The main thing is that I haven't played well, but the silver lining in that is the team has played well. We're still in a good position wild-card wise and the playoffs, and I still plan on being a big part of this hunt for a World Series here. This is just a blip."

For who & where the Reds are now, that's all they can afford -- low base & huge incentives. That said, he'll probably get more in base from someone else and would be silly not to take it.
